Hello. I was wondering if anyone knows where I can purchase this trick (Psycho Kinetic Touch)? I've heard it gets a really good reaction.
If anyone knows where it's for sale, please let me know. Thanks, Priest

And if you happen to be a collector, take a look at the "collectors edition"of PK Touches. A beautiful piece for a beautiful effect. Quite apropos.

I recently purchased this effect and was totally blown away by the method involved - it is gorgeously simple.
I haven't actually tried it out yet - I'm still thinking of the right scenario for me - but I am sure that if it is done correctly it must be a killer. Any hints or tips on presenting this effect would be most welcome! (without tipping the method of course) |

sweetcarl,
The story is obviously a bit much. I believe even Banachek once alluded to this fact. For my presentation, I looked at a real event in my life; the loss of someone close to me, and used it. I still get choked up when using the effect, and found that the real emotion greatly enhances the presentation. At an even deeper level, I see the performance as a homage to the memory of that individual that was lost. Perhaps there is some event in your life you could draw upon. |

Thanks for the tip, Michael. That is exactly what I'm trying to do, but to be honest I feel fortunate in that I haven't yet suffered the loss of anyone close to me. That's why I'm trying to come up with a different presentational angle.
Michael, By the way, I see that you're from Waterloo - hopefully it's nicer than the original Waterloo (as in 'the Battle of...') that's just a few miles down the road from me here in Brussels! |

I got PK Touches about six months ago... used it the day after it arrived as a matter of happenstance, while visiting a local New Age bookstore... The situation was beautiful! A die-hard skeptic boy friend giving his all too blonde New Age girlfriend a hard time for being so gullible.
I modified the suggested tale found in the mspt. and personalized it to my maternal grandfather (who actually had relationship of sorts with Alester Crowley... a fact known in the shut-eye community and some facits of the magic world.) I weave the tale, do the deed and the skeptic jumps out of his skin! I ended up with two half-hour Readings and clients for life BEFORE EVERYONE POUNCES ON ME... I did hand these folks both, a brochure and card that states rather explicitly that I am a Psychic Entertainer... I wasn't claiming anything and all that hog wash. Bottom line is... YES PK Touches is very cool and can be exceptionally powerful. It is (like most of Steve's thinking) worth every penny! IT IS NOT (in my opinion) a "performance piece" but rather the kind of thing you would use on the spur of the moment, when opportunity presents itself... for me and my way of thinking, such circumstances add to the trick's effect on the human psyche and what is percieved, allowing you a superior sense of impact. Have fun!

That's why I'm trying to come up with a different presentational angle. Fake it! Or don't use a spirit of a dead person at all. With a little creative thinking, this effect can become something totally different from the way Banachek described it. In fact, I would be embarrassed to perform it the way the manuscript suggests. I always try to change an effect to suit my own persona -- and this is good advice for anyone. Make it your own!

Brain Gillis and Susipan (forgive my spelling) incorporate Psychokinetic Touches in their act. They have also recently incorporated it with Psychokinetic Time for a very strong effect.

Couldn't it be used in a way that didn't ned the use of a dead person? For example as a demonstration of how can have "connections" with others. Mabey expain common occurences when friends couples or twins could feel or sense what was happening to the other, and that in fact is how psychics sometimes connect with someone....blah blah. Couldn't it be used as a kind of experiment to demonstrate ths ability that "we all" have?
Or do you think the original has more impact? |

I have this and only used it a couple of times. Once after our local IBM ring meeting. It KILLED! It is such a strong piece I urge you to use it with caution, and it is best done 'impromptu'. It could be done onstage, but I don't reccomend it.

I don't think anyone outside California could realistically get away with trying to "cleanse an aura". The one time I did try this "live" (and impromptu) was as a "voodoo" demponstration, ie., a stickman drawn on a pad. Worked well!

I'm curious -- why exactly shouldn't this be done on stage?
I've only performed it impromptu, but I've seen someone perform a version of the effect on stage, and it worked very well. Any particular reasons?

Just on another note, are there any problems with the way Derren Brown presented his version of PK touches? Because he didn't use the whole relative/invisible friend routine.
Though quite how he managed to fool those girls a 2nd time??... |

It worked and left one of the girls very shocked (literally) no more clues. If however you are refering to the PK Touches done on the lap dancers hands, then I don't have a clue. I use PK Touches to demonstrate that as herd animals (living in community/family groups) we are susceptible to and can access a genetic collective conciousness. Works for me anyway. Scott |

Marc Salem uses PKT in his stageshow, and it works very well because he builds up the anticipation and offers a slice of scientific background. He also uses something of his own, in which the participant is tapped on the hand (see DB above)in full view, with no contact. He kindly showed me his method and I have to admit, I was mightily impressed. The two together, straight after each other, actually pulled loud gasps of amazement from the audience. Nice!

Where did Derren do this effect, or is it described in his Pure Effect book?

Scott, I don't know how DB, did it to the "lap dancer's" hand, but I've been doing a similar thing on women for a while now.
Loopy method too. Works great, same presentation, you ask her to close her eyes, run your hands apart down her arm, her friends see that you are not touching her, and when she opens her eyes she swears you touched her. E-Leoni. |
