1)
I read in a magazine article a story (linked to David Berglas)that within The Magic Circle there are a group who genuinely investigate psychic phenomena. Does anyone know if this story is genuine, or possess a contact e-mail for David Berglass? 2) Although ostensibly this site is for magicians/mentallists are there any 'believers' in psychic phenomena/survival theories?

I've only heard of such an "Inner Circle" in the UK and do not know for certain of its validity... I know that there are many Skeptics groups in the US, UK and around the world, some are more obnoxious than others.
There is a book (I haven't the link here, but check in the archives @ OnLine-VISIONS Ezine -- Craig Browning articles -- in the earlier articles you'll find links) that is entitled "Magicians That Believe in the Supernatural"... THERE ARE A LOT OF US! Especially within the auspices of Bizarre & Mental styled magick. Another thing to consider, when it comes to the issue of "belief" and "Miracles" is the number of Christian Magic associations that exist... not to burst their bubble, but if they're going to say JC & Co. "really did it" and ignore the data to the contrary, then they have to give Geller and others credit until it can be PROVEN BEYOND THE SHADOW OF A DOUBT that they aren't... Sorry, I just don't believe in duplicity and last I checked, thought it was a sin to be a hypocrite... Now that I've ticked a bunch of people off... let me point out that I believe either side of the issue are correct. I'm very much a skeptic and believe that 99% of all this esoteric horse pucky will ultimately be sustained by science... I believe that's all it's ever been and I can't help but see how, in the past two centuries alone, we've "explained" a great deal of what used to be termed demonic, satanic, evil, magick, etc. As the Gnostic's tried to teach the world (only to be murdered for it) KNOWLEGE is the way to genuine spiritual enlightenment and understanding... it is what will reveal the "Divine" (as is noted in the book "Kabala for Modern Times" by Migene Gonzalez-Wippler.) Hope you enjoy the journey you've about to embark upon... it's a fun one! |

Quote: I don't believe in the eternal afterlife; I know it as a fact from direct experience. This is based on hundreds of conscious out-of-body experiences over many years. The truth that we are more than our physical bodies has sunk deep within my bones. There, I've said it. So what? One can only prove such things for oneself, from direct experience. I can't prove it to you, nor would I have any interest in doing so. I have proven other extra-ordinary things; again, only to myself. I have no interest in proving such things to anybody. One can only experience these things directly. I only talk of this because you asked.

When I hear the word "science" being thrown out freely in discussions like this, it always make me smile and shake my head. Science is too often "deified" by "skeptics" and subscribers of "scientism".Or may I just say that the concept of science can be subjected to perception and distortion as is "any" belief system. Science is as evolving as... our own understanding of it, and the universe. Is "science" a separate entity or a an unchanging, fixed way way of looking at and thinking about... matter? Try taking time to consider the theories of Quantum(Particle)Behavior, or Super String Theory. Those two areas alone don't even scratch the surface of the vast probabilities of interdimentional realities. To many in the world today those fields are still like "science fiction", let alone being accepted as truth. But anyone could spend an "eternity" trying to grasp and absorb what is being discovered and revealed there on a daily basis.
It used to be quoted 60 years ago. "Of course I don't believe in the Divine,I'm a scientist. " But now the spin is..."Of course I believe in the Divine, I'm a scientist". Be open to what is true, and consciously avoid traps of thinking such as superstitions, skepticism, and ...scientism. Anything is possible, and there is nothing that is "supernatural". "It's All Natural, It's All About Consciousness". Especially life beyond, what we've called death. ;-) Remember to Smile John |

I'm with you johnjnesbit on this one, there is no reality, only perception. I'm quite fond of buddhism for this reason.
When your only reality is an illusion, then illusion is reality, I believe this totally when it comes to religions psychics superstitions and even scientists of different opinions, this statment I believe holds true.
When your only reality is an illusion, then illusion is reality.

Maybe it should read: When 'your' only reality is an illusion, then your illusion 'is' reality. What I want to know is does anyone actually believe anything rather than stuff from 'The Celastine Prophecy'?

My post above had some statements removed by the powers that be. A quote by Groucho Marx was taken out. ( A variation of Shakespeare's "There's more to heaven and earth than is dreamt of in your philosophy.") And a statement identifying myself as a Buddhist, asking those of a specific belief-system to avoid confrontation. This last I can understand; asking for no confrontation was itself confrontational. I apologise for any offense.

Bobser, my statement was as it was intended, My viewe was that when cult leaders come along the make their illusion or should I say delusion part of every one who decides to follow their nonsence.
I actually agree mostly with a school of buddhism, to explain why would take a good maney pages, but to me death life destruction are all natural things.
When your only reality is an illusion, then illusion is reality.
