What powers you ask? I dunno, how about the power of flight? That do anything for you? That's levitation, Holmes.

Wonderboy! What is the secret of your power. Oops, it is rubbing of on me.

I have the power to do mind reading, done primarily by putting my soul in another dimension. I learned this when training to do out-of-body trips. I thus felt that the difference between the body and mind is, in this dimension, somehow floating. That way my mind can connect and go into another person's mind.

Jimtron, my friend with the full photographic memory recalls data instantly. She doesn't even read books in the manner we do. Her NLP responses are not what the average persons are due to her retrieving data from her memory instantly. In saying this she is lazy, and when she was in school it was a doodle for her. She was bored all the time and still got over all student and best in every exam.
My photo memory only relates to images. I can draw people pretty well after seeing them, and can recall the location of every thing in a building I may have only been in once years ago. It's like walking around the room in my head. I have a terrible memory for numbers. I must use mnemonics to recall numbers. My friend with the photo memory can freak you out with the way she looks at you. I believe this is due to her lack of NLP response. She does not change her eye position for memory retrieval, making it extremely difficult and almost impossible to tell if she is lying. She's a bit anti-social, though, confident and shy and kind of wrapped up in her own world. As you may have guessed, I like to study strange people. H.W.

Sounds very interesting. What's the most impressive feat your friend can do with the photographic memory? Could she, say, look at a page of a phone book for a few moments, and then later write down all of the names and numbers accurately? Does she do demonstrations of this to the public? (I hope that's not too nosy; just curious). I like to study strange people, too. -Jim |

Most of the powers discussed here sound like skill and talent. Does anyone here believe that they have supernatural or paranormal powers?

I have a growth on my face that acts (for lack of a better word) as a sort of "third eye." Without the use of my four "normal" senses, it allows me to detect things like fresh coffee, natural gas, and rotting garbage. I can do this *even when I am blindfolded*! It's really amazing, and I don't know how I do it! I will take up James Randi's challenge and collect my million!
-- Jake EDIT: It has been pointed out to me that my mysterious growth is, in some circles, called a "nose." Now my dreams of vast wealth and fame are ruined. [/silly]

Jim,
My friend doesn't display her ability at all. She has told me that she had fun as a kid memorizing phone numbers, but I didn't think much of it at the time. I wouldn't call her memory too exceptional, as her short-term memory is pretty bad. She forgets events and can be very slow in timing and doing anything yet. She seems to limit her memory to academic studies. She is very critical of others. This is due to her being to do anything related to college or school easily. She does not read in the manner most people do, though. I often think that we hear a lot about people with mutations or handicaps, but I equally believe that some people have natural perfections. For example, I know there are people with above average eyesight. My eyesight has continually improved over the span of eight years. This year my optician told me I no longer needed glasses for anything at all. Every year my glasses were reduced; my eyesight is a tiny bit better then the average persons now, or so I'm told. I know lots of people with extra special talents that are natural, but none I would class as supernatural. H.W

My family on both sides (but with an emphasis on my paternal lineage) has had apparent 'wild' flashes of precognition and clairvoyance.
I have experienced these phenomena on a few occasions, as have other family members. My older sister has experienced the most disturbing of these events. Are these flashes useful to me? No, flatly. If anything, they are an uncontrollable annoyance with no practical value. When an 'insight' occurs, it is impossible to discern it from any other random thought, daydream, or nocturnal dream until a correlation with a real event is revealed. An empiricist might shrug and say, "Coincidence," and I would agree had I not experienced such things first hand, and compared notes with my father and siblings. Steve

Dr_Stephen_Midnight, I get the same thing. I put it down to subconscious prediction, your mind picks up lots of thing with out you being aware, even some of the most subtle of potential causes for a future event.
I have braked suddenly in my car many times for no reason only to find I had missed the car in front. It's like my mind automatically knew the guy in front would break suddenly. Of course, there are projections further int he future. I put it all down to my subconscious.

I sometimes wonder if we don't all have more primordial survival instincts than we realize, and that we may one day understand better.
Steve ________ I'm not attempting to BS anyone on this matter at all. "BS" implies that I don't believe it myself, but am simply trying to snow you. I'm not attempting to BS anyone on this matter, as I honestly believe to be true, and am simply stating that belief. If you wish to interpret my belief as being misguided, that's your call and your privilege. We all have the right to "call 'em as we see 'em," and it's clear that we will need to 'agree to disagree' on the nature of the universe and of human potential. Best wishes, Steve
