Hi, I'm relativly new to coin magic, but awhile ago I bought an Okito box and a little booklet of routines to go with it by Mohammed Bey (just a small booklet they sell in magic shops).
I was reading through it and some of the stuff looks like it might be pretty neat, but I had one question. At one point in a routine, it says to shake the box and execute a turnover move while continuing to shake the box. Will the audience be able to hear the difference in sound when the box is being shaken while inverted and when it is just being shaken normally? It sounds a lot different to me, I just don't know if the audience will notice or not. Any help would be apreciated, thanks. |

The sound should not be all that different. Place the box on your hand resting on your fingers (essentially finger palm position). Put your thumb on top then shake.
If you really want to learn some great stuff with the box get David Roth's video on Okito Box magic...it is unreal. Mitch

The sound shouldn't be different; I can't imagine how you might be doing this, that it makes a different sound.
BTW, the Bey book is excellent but remember, it is dated and was written quite a while ago; a lot has been written and created since then, involving the box and its handling. But the Okito Box can still be a winner! cheers, Peter Marucci showtimecol@aol.com |

The Okito box is good, but people will begin to figure it out if you do it for too long, I suggest buying a Boston box as well.
However, it's one of my favorite effects, and all I can say is practice the turnover move, even when you think you have it down pat. . . you don't! Hope this helps! |

Just a bit of information on the sound. I seen a guy do it once and the coins were used to mask the sound difference .... it was weird.
However, he also made the box just appear. As I remember it, he had four coins ..... and he tossed them to the other hand and the box was all that was there and then he dumped the coins onto the table , really neat stuff! Chase |
