Hi! I am planning to go from a rope routine to a silk routine but am trying to figure out how to change the rope into three silks. I'm going to be doing Pavel's Devil's Rope which involves a rope made up of 4 colors: white-yellow-blue-red. After this routine, I would like to make the rope disappear and 4 silks (white-yellow-blue-red) appear in its place. Can you guys PM me or refer me to sources that may show me how to do this best without using apparatus like a square circle, change bag, or the like. Thanks!

Jimmy,
How well do you know the electrician? Dark works! The real problem that I see you facing is the fact that you want to do four instead of one. It sounds like a great idea. I hope you solve it and let me see it! Bob Magic By Sander |

Your comment has stirred the scheming spirits, Bob. A rope to one silk then use the diminishing silks technique to produce the four silks that match the color of the rope. Much easier, right? And it will have the knots in between the colors. And perhaps I will talk to the house electrician --- I would only need two seconds. Thanks again, Bob!

How about doing an unprepared blendo kind of thing changing the rope into a line of silks? Tie the silks with a square knot and upset the knot. Then you can separate them and use them individually.
Rope could be ditched into a table, topit or use a bag shaped pull. Look at your Peter White tapes with his gimmick for doing a large color changing hank.

Not sure but Norm Nielsen may sell a hand held device. You pull something thru your hand and it changes to something else. Originally one colored handkerchief (I hate "silks") for another. Perhaps it would work with rope to sil... er Handkerchiefs.

The Neilsen device is limited in how much material can be taken into it. Maybe if you remove the core of the rope it would work.

A sleeve pull is the only thing that comes to mind to vanish the ropes and produce the silks by a steal and produce at the same time. Dick Zimmerman Pull or Neff's Miracle Rope Trick would have the required device.

If we go to a sleeve pull, it almost becomes a necessity to use a take bird cage type of pull so the effect could be done anytime during the act.

Jimmy,
Do you work with a stripe down the legs of your costume pants? A fistful of rope is easy to ditch in the process of appearing to transform rope to silk. (Ever owned a metal measuring tape?) Scheme! The others are right. The rope core has to go. We need some StarBuck's time! We have things to discuss. Bob Magic By Sander |

BTW, I am at Collector's right now in Las Vegas. I spoke with Norm Neilsen and he has none of the mechanical silk to balls left.
