I have preordered my copy from Hermetic Press and cannot wait for the release of this long awaited book.
One routine I am particularly interested in is when Juan was on the Best of Magic on TV in the UK some years ago, he performed a routine where he had a spec riffle shuffle some cards together, then have another spec choose a number between 1-52, say 7 was named and them have the same spec choose a card from a different deck. This freely chosen card was then at the seventh position down in the freely shuffled deck the spec shuffled at the very beginning and was not touched until now. Wow! This routine blew me away, the reason being was that it could not have been a mem deck as the spec riffle shuffled the two halfs together at the beginning. does anyone know if this routine will be included in the new book? what other routines will be in the book, if anyone knows can they describe the effect. |

I remember the routine you are refering to from The Best of Magic. I think you should have another look at it with regard to the rifle shuffle. Paul |

I want to order the book from Joyalstack, but when I press the "add to cart" button, it takes me to Paypal. When I log in, it doesn't recognize the book in any way or show it in my shopping cart. Do I simply have to do a regular Paypal payment, and to who, just "Joyalstack.com"?????
It's unfortunate that it's confusing, and could lose sales for Joyalstack. Any help would be appreciated. |

Yes that is his version of Al Baker's Card at Any Number. He does include his psychology and his deck switches in the book.

Does anyone already own this book (before it was known of its reprinting) have any comments?
I want to know what makes this book so hyped up? How does it compare to Aronson's Stack?

Mnemonica is not released in english until early september, so nobody owns it yet, unless you can read spanish.
It's my belif, I might be wrong, that Tamariz's system takes less time to learn than Aronson's stack. At least that is what I heard. I guess we have to wait to september to see if I am right or wrong. The hype is that many individuals have waited a long, long time for this book, me included. This book will define for me which stack system Im going to learn; Aronson's, Joyal's or Tamariz's.

The book is hyped because it is a Tamariz release. rightly so too! I don't think the stack is necessarily easier to learn than aronson's. perhaps the techniques to learn them are better in the Tamariz book. In any case if you do use a memorized deck it is a must have. I pre ordered long ago.

A few dollars won't help keep Misdirections in business my friend! It's sinking fast! Sly |

I took advantage of Martin Joyal's pre-order deal too.
Now for my real (off-topic) question. Is Misdirections really in trouble or you guys joshing? I always go there when in the Bay Area. High prices (list or greater), but always a good selection and good service. Mark |

I was just stating what I said in a general sense. Im trying to say that I'm not interested in saving every dollar by ordering online, when I have a fantastic local shop that I want to support. Too many magicshops have closed because of the Internet.
I love Misdirections and will always shop there!

Only two (or three) days left to the release of "Mnemonica: Symphony in Mnemonic Major (Bewitched Music II)" from Hermetic Press.
I had the pleasure of reading Jamy Ian Swiss review (five pages long) in the latest issue of Genii, where he says that the followed up book after Mnemonica will be named "Flamenco (Bewitched Music III)". Dealing with similar effects as in "Sonata (Bewitched Music I)", most of it will be magic with cards (no stacking effects). Something to look forward to. But first we have to digest this baby.

Mr Olsson, Im glad you got to read the review in Genii! I thought it was well written and found it to also be very imformative.
