Can someone that owns this wallet please give me a detailed review of it? It is sold at Owen's. I am trying to decide on a nice wallet and this is my second of three choices. (From least expensive to most expensive)

It is a large investment for me and I would surely appreciate some information about this wallet. I am curious about set-up and prep time on this one because of the wax and staple that is used. I have heard that this wallet costs about twice as much as my first choice, so I'd really like to know if it is worth that much more. Anything you can tell me would help with my selection.

Magically yours,

Regan

Keep in mind that the above review is for the limited edition that Hocus Pocus sold. You will not be receiving the performance and explanation video that accompanied it...

Thanks Mike.

Very helpful. Is the BP Wallet no longer available anywhere?

No owens still has it and theres comes with a way to have the card stapled inside the envelope, that is a staple going through the center of the card that is sealed in the envelope, but I think the forbes would be a better investment as of right now, it sounds very nice

By the way I used to have a BP wallet and like it a lot, it was nice quality and had many variations to perform but I ended up selling it,also mine was from hocus-pocus which had the new and improved flap system, however now as I stated before I think I will get the Forbes

I love my BP wallet. I purchased it from Owens and the routine is awesome. There is substantial prep time involved, but the result is worth the time.

Within seconds, the spectator's signed card is found inside the zippered compartment of the wallet, inside a sealed and waxed envelope with a staple seen going thru the card. I had one spectator tell me this is as close to real magic as he has ever seen.

The staple adds to the impossibility, as the spectator freely selects the card and signs it with no pre-existing damage or holes in it.,

No switches or funny moves. The card is removed and signature verified along with the staple holes running through the center.

The Owens wallet is high quality, nothing spared. I highly recommend this.

Thanks

From what I've been able to find out, it seems the BP Wallet at Owens offers the staple thru effect and the one at Hocus Pocus did not. I could be mistaken, but a Café member offered to sell me one he had bought from Hocus Pocus, and it did not have the staple part.

That's all I'm going by. Someone else might know for sure.

The Wallet itself has nothing to do with the staple part of the routine. There is a special "something" though that you need to accomplish this effect. Owens provides the gimmick and instructions with the wallet they sell.

Do you have to wear a jacket to use the Barry Price wallet?

I think you would have to wear a jacket as it measures about 7 1/2" long x 4" wide. I don't know though as I don't own one...yet.

Just FYI, the stapled routine included with the Owens version is actually Jim Steinmeyers creation. It was published in an out-of-print se t of notes. He also featured it in a lecture at MAGIC live 3 years ago, and it seems that I remember it being in MAGIC mag. although I could be wrong.

Thanks Shawn.

Someone else told me it was in Magic magazine. I'd like to see that article.

Looking at the MAGIC Magazine Database program, I was able to locate the "Stapled Card as Escape Artist," Magic Magazine, December 2002 pp. 104-106. If someone could check (I'm not at home at the moment), this might help everyone out.

Any owners of the Barry Price Wallet interested in re-opening this thread in the banquet room?
