When I started learning the Charlier I did it with my right hand and switched over within a day. All it took for me was watching what I did with my right hand and making sure that I did the exact same with my left. To get the balance right (so that you don't have to play 52 card pickup) you just need practice. Smile Try it a few times; it can be tough, but after a little bit of repetition, it's really not that bad.

An interesting note on the discussion of non-dominant hands:

Although I'm right-handed, I actually find it easier to do a Charlier, as well as a coin roll, with my left hand. I assume this is because I started practicing with that hand first.

It just goes to show you that with enough practice you should be able to train either hand to do something (not that it's necessarily easy).

And it's actually fun to practice CTG with the DVD! I loved the awesome tunes and funny bits. Also no rewinding is very nice! CTG rocks and is my favorite DVD! And the CTG routine is challenging as hell! Keep it up, it will keep your fingers working!

Yes I agree! De'vo's beats make you wanna go fast-the natural way. I tried doing an impossible stack without the box with his music and the flow just came to me. No "52 card pickup". And the speed just flowed.

To be honest, the first thing I perfectly got was the Heaven Display, Then the flipback, then the vanish. That's all I've learned. Now I'm still practicing on the Birdy Fan, flipback fan and the whole CTG routine.
It's my favorite video too. Cool beats and teaching syle..

No prob, Fiesta. Smile Good luck with CTG; De'vo's music is awesome!

Anshul-- you're so right (what'd ya expect from a Harvard boy Smile ). I think I did tenkai with my left hand at first, and it just felt a little strange switching over, as simple as it may seem.

I spend more time on the "chalice breaks" then I do on CTG, of course it COULD be all those breaks that is making CTG practice so hard, maybe I should start putting soda or milk in the chalice, instead. Smile

De'vo CTG and Cobra both require much practice and balance esp for the cobra

been working on 'Very Bad Habit' in Tudor's Showoff2 ... he does it at an amazing speed

The SSS De'vo published in Genii is HARD! much harder than it looks.

But his SSSs on the back of his hand are much harder.

The balance required for the CTG closer and cobra is easy. Not super easy or super hard but just "easy".

Although the CTG closer is an advanced move, it is easy when you get the hang of it. Cobras too.

Like Jinx said, some/certain SSSs are much harder.

Well of course everything is easy when you mastered or studied it to an expert level. When you study for an exam or master a certain move or flourish, it can be done with ease. I wouldn't say it's easy off the bat like that Clarence, even if it's easy for just you. Some things maybe easy for you, but difficult for me or vice versa.
