I have a question about this book. I apologize if it is in the wrong forum.

I always read about Derren Brown's mentalism, and how in Absolute Magic he very obviously feel that mentalism is the best form of magic, if it can be called that. But I havn't read anywhere a straight out that this book is for mentalists. All reviews I've found are by magicians, the title is Absolute Magic, the descriptions talk about magic.

My question is this: will a mentalist benefit from this book? Or is this mainly for the magician.

I think you should read it or reread it. If you really read it, you will learn it has nothing to do with Magic or Mentalism. The book focuses on vision, your character and making your effects(be it magic or mentalism) connect on a personal level. He even has a little section on cold reading and other little mentalism tid bits.

Nevermind this point. It has everything to do with Magic and Mentalism.

In the UK Derren is known as The Top Mentalist
IMHO
His lecture tape is great mentalism
The Devil's Picture Book tape is card tricks and mentalism and absolute TOPS
His persona and presentation is very Mentalist even on the card tricks
His first TV (four shows) series was brilliant
Beg, borrow or steal them or miss out
His aura of mysticism, presentation and control of audiences is second to none
Cheers

Does anyone have a few chapter references from Absolute Magic so I can have an idea what to expect?

Thanks!
