Ha I thought that would get your attention!
Next month I will be performing at a Lighthouse festival that is a fund raiser for the restoration and maintenance of Lighthouses. In the 4 shows that I will be doing over the weekend I would like to set a 10" H 3"W wood lighthouse model on my table. Tell the Children that we have to take care of the lighthouses or some day they will all be gone-Vanish. But if we do take care of them they will be here for generations for your children and grandchildren to enjoy-production. I have a variety of props but none seem to be the right size my Square Circle is much to big and I would have to pull it back out for the production. I was wondering about a screen I could fold it and unfold vanish fold in and unfold back. I though about a devils hank but it's to heavy and large. because kids can relate to the comfort of a blanket. I don't want to spend a lot on a new prop to use for 4 shows. I will go looking through my magic books for something to make and look forward to your posts.

Jewls , you could use a crystal silk cylinder in reverse, if your light house would fit in it. Show the tubes empty place lighthouse in gimmick and then show it has vanished by doing the inner tube, put it back and then the outer tube, then remove both tubes and you could have a silk with a light left in the empty cylinder. The lightwouse is gone and alls that is left is the light. Hope that helps if not e mail me. chuck

At the magic hands in germany we sold a trick that was called "Bottle from Silks" which sounds it would be perfect for the lighthouse production, assuming that the lighthouse is a slim tall shape. If you don't own it ask arround at your club someone is bound to own it, it was one of the magic hands best sellers of all time.

Chuck,
That is funny I was probably experimenting with my crystal silk cylinder while you were typing. It would work if I had a smaller light house. I may have to hit the stores looking for a different lighthouse. Wolfgang I will do some research on the bottle from silks! Thank you both!

For a vanish, do the old "bonus genius" effect..
Hold the the top the light house through a cloth after covering it. Ditch the rest and vanish just the top? You could make the light on the top light up ( a delite).

How about a version of the chinese water bowl, you could fix a strong magnet to the base of the lighthouse, put it on a metal tray, (maybe something decorated like a rock), cover it with a silk, take the tray away, throw the silk in the air and the lighthouse has gone.
Yours Funfully

Just adding to Clive's idea....
Why not attach a light to the light house which attaches to the roof which is removeable? The kids can SEE the light through the cloth once you've picked it up off the tray. |

Great ideas guys thanks! I do want to bring the lighthouse back though. So I need a vanish and a production. I like Chucks Idea with the crystal Silk Cylinder I could call it a time capsile I will look for a smaller yet visable light house. But look forward to all of your ideas there is always a new challange around the corner!
AND I may not find a lighthouse to fit!

To reproduce it, steal it into a bag inside some silks. Using just a silk looks more magical than a big piece of apparatus.

I don't own one of these props, but what about using a MAK Magic (U.F. Grant) Temple Screen?
I saw it mentioned on another thread, when discussing production of a guitar. The weakness is that you would have to watch your angles. The strength is that once you buy the prop, you could custom make your own, in the size you want, with your own decorations on the panels (to fit the theme). It could be used to vanish or to produce the lighthouse. - Donald. P.S. There is a product description here (although it is sold at many dealers) as well as a video clip: http://www.makmagic.com/Sections/product......314#disp

The MAK Magic (U.F. Grant) Temple Screen mentioned above is great. The only weakness is that you MUST watch your angles closely. It is very easy to customize one of these and could work great for your routine.
The nice thing about making you own temple screen is that you can find a picture or art of whatever you want and then laminate it on cover stock or thick paper and place it over a stiffer cardboard. The best type of tape to use is gaffers tape (used mostly for bookbinding) it works great and is the best I have found. John The Gospel Magic Man |

Thanks, this is a good idea I know some have used a larger screen method to produce Santa or the company president.
I will look into it!
