I'm looking for a levitation effect and while I've been searching the Café haven't found anything quite right yet. I am looking for something that will lift me four or five feet into the air (or anything in that range) while standing. I'll have a stage and assistants if needed, so carrying a box on stage to do the work is no problem.
This is for a professional-level costume contest. I built a studio-quality Rocketeer costume and have plenty of friends to help with the show, but I'd love to fly while in the costume. That's why I want to be standing...I would prefer to build the illusion myself but am willing to buy one, I figure I can disguise it as a stage prop and use it in the show before flying. I'm just not sure how to do the actual flight. If I can find something simple and effective enough to use in my normal magic shows that'd also be great but is secondary...I'm just not really sure what's out there - so far my searching has found mostly very expensive items or self-levitation items, neither one of which will really work for what I want to do. So I greatly appreciate any advice. |

Evan,
How far away from the back curtain will you be? I was thinking that if you were within a close distance to the back curtain, that you could use the rocket pack as a cover for a fog blaster. ( fog machine that would blast the fog straight down I don't know if this exists or not but its what Im thinking of right now.) You could then do an aga levitation and rise up the required distance. That would probably be the simplest way to do it. Good luck with it! Robert |

Three words; "3 in 1" You can easily float up 4 foot and hoover around.

Theatre effects has a mini fogger that could be used for the rocket effect.

There are some other methods (far more complicated) that could be used including Lee Grabel's Blackart version and a Pnuematic system I'm familiar with, that was used by Torchy Towner years ago. For price and practical use you can't beat Saydean's system! |

I really appreciate this. I'm not familiar with the 3-in-1 levitation, I'll poke around and see if I can find a thread on it.
I have leeway as far as the curtain, etc - I can be very close or a further up the stage, most of these contests give you quite a bit of leeway. I am planning on having a fog machine piped to the jetpack for exhaust...I have a friend who is the Shadow, so he will appear in the fog. I can figure that part out easily enough. Again, I truly appreciate the advice! |

Poke around about the 3-in-1, contact saydean above, he is the originator of it and I have one! It is one of the best purchases I've made.
Remember it requires a backdrop and a stage hand.

Check out Stage Illusions for sale.
Dutch sold the rights to market it to another company. Of all the illusions I have, the 3-in-1 would be the last I'd sell. When I die, my wife will get rid of the stuff. A friend will sell all the stuff for her, and keep the 3-in-1, for his efforts. Besides, my 3-in1 is now five in one.

"Yogano" has a very nice standing levitation, & you may float someone from the audience if you want. Hope this helps.

Dutch sold the rights to market it to another company.... Is that so, does it mean he´s not the man to buy it from now, or? Been trying to reach him because I´m interested of 3in1. I´m unfortunately pretty new member at the Café so I havent reached the right size of posts to viev Stage Illusions for sale... is it possible you could leave a notice that I´m interested if it´s still there. thanks Den |

Varg,
I just sent Saydean a PM to contact you. In the Stage Illusion for sale he mentions: I am moving on to other things and have decided to sell the rights to my " 3 in 1" levatation unit. It will include a working prototype and all manfacturing rights . You may contact me thru this board. SERIOUS Inquiries only. What is serious? Someone who has the CASH to buy it,not a person who has to ask Mommy or Daddy for money to buy his props. One caveat applies, you may not sell plans to the unit for 25 years. Dutch Haling He is also working on 5-in-1: For more information on that: Thank all of you for your intrest. I have contracted to allow production with a firm in Alabama. Look for the 5 in 1 soon. the 4 th step is a 360 degree rotation ...head up to head up, from the vertical position. The 5 th step is a traveling levataion that moves the width of the stage while the subject is levatated. It's awesome! Ad's will begin in MUM, Geni and other magic rags this December. The price? It will be sold at $1999.00 F.O.B. Mobile,Alabama. Under this agreement I still can sell the remaining 3 in 1 units I have on order and for the next year I retain the rights to sell up to 16, 3 in 1 units at $1400.00 shipping not included. Also for my friends who currently own a original 3 in 1 unit ,dont worry. the same strict qualifications will apply so you wont be seeing this illusion on exposure type shows or being offered on e -bay. Hope this helps. Michael

Since this is for a costume contest, there is no need to invest a fortune in the prop. Use the Super Simplex. The rocketman outfit will conceal the works just fine.

I'd stay away from the Saturn unless you don't weigh much more than 100 lbs. Go with the 3-in-1 if you can afford it.
