Hi everyone! I was thinking about purchasing some of Steve Fearson's products from his website downloadmagic.com, and I was wondering if anyone out there has gotten some of his effects. If so, could I have your input on his stuff? Everything is appreciated!

I know people who have most of Fearson's products. The truth is his products can range from stupid and unusable to pure genius. I have experienced both extremes. So good luck, and hope you'll find something you'll love and perform well.

I'd add David Copperfield's Laser. As far as I know the effect was invented by Fearson.
I absolutely love Floating Cigarette. It always gets me huge reactions. And the floating principle is so useful it gets used in other floating tricks as well. I also highly recommend Area 51 last phase, the audience reactions I get is unspeakable. Of course you can't do this trick often because of the *very* deliberate setup but it's worth it. I heard bad reviews of some of Fearson's other tricks though. |

I bought his "Levitation Pack." It came with the floating cigarette, Area 51, and a self-levitation routine.
His effects all have instructional videos. All very well done, with detailed explanations. I will definitely buy from him again! Poppa Jim Mitchell http://www.toys-n-art.com

I'm just wondering about the area 51 product. Do I have to find my own little green guys or am I supplied with them. If not, where do I go to get them?

You can use any small light stick I guess for the area 51 effect. Floating cigarette and area 51 are cool but after buying a few effects from there I decided to give it a miss but that's just me.

I feel that steve's stuff is crazy genius.I the have "party magic" video & since your in the "impromptu" section of the Café I thought I'd mention it. You'll find a lot of stuff that you can use & it's really simple.

If you have area 51 have you been able to float it totally away as in the video ending?

You can do a search on this site for Fearson's Box. Reviews were mixed, but most seem to rate it as more of a gag than magic, but this seemed to be related to the materials used(an old milk crate), and the presentation(somewhat silly).
From what I've seen of it, it would be fun to build and do (once), but not a main-stay for performing.

What are the limitations of area 51, i.e. permformed surrounded? etc.

Area 51 can be performed surrounded. It's like his famous cigarette act. Only part that you can't perform surrounded or close up is the part where you throw it into the sky.

I bought the area 51 a few days ago and it is brill, it comes with the floating cigarette, and yes the light REALY does go to around 20-30 THOUSAND feet! yeah sure there is some setup for that part but in the performance there would not be anything suspicious (is that how you spel that?!) going on and everyone sees it go.
I don't see why you cant do the last part surrounded, in mean having seen the video, it is fine to it surrounded, as it is just the same as the first part exept it goes way up, why can you do it surrounded, anyone-care-to share? cheers, daz |

I bought a few of his card things and it seems like his material is more visual atuff that would only work in the world of demo videos (that doesn't of course mean that you can't put it in your OWN demo video)
Ben PS. it's the kind of thing that fun on a rainy saturday |
