I don't have them, but I produced the book of instructions and handled the props. If you want the very best... this is it. Some very interesting, subtle handling and a mechanical device or two that really makes a fooler of it.
Workmanship is superb. And if you add up all the custom made pieces, it is a real good buy.

I have one coming and will give you an honest assessment of it when it arrives. I somehow have a feeling it won't be really soon, though, but I surely hope so.

While I own many of Mr. Porper's items and know that he is a terrific craftsman, I would really like to know if this particular stack and cylinder along with the special penny significantly enhance the deceptiveness and power of this effect. With a regular Ramsay stack you do need to palm the stack, but with this item, there is no need for palming. Does this alone make the effect much stronger? Does the use of the special penny instead of cork significantly make this effect stronger?
I would appreciate your opinion when you get this item. Best regards, Michael

I presently DO the original Ramsay trick almost exactly as described in Farelli's booklet. I use old, smooth Morgans, a stack and a leather cover that Thomas Wayne made, along with two pieces of cork (with a little known Vernon subtlety added to them,) and a very nice THIN magic wand made by Owen. The wand is what laymen would typically recognize to be a magic wand....black with white tips...no funny metal tips or rings or inlays..just a magic wand.
I got the Porper set because I love the trick and welcome any "improvment," or just any other approach to this effect. Like I said, I don't think I'm going to have mine soon (like my Porper Chop Cup either,) but when I do, I will let everyone know what I think and if it does or, IMO, CAN enhance the orignal in any way, either by improving the effect or minimizing the techniques. I guess what I'm letting everyone know is that I am not buying it to change or enhance what I already do, but more to see someone else's approach. If it ends up enhancing the original, well, that's icing on the cake. I'll let you know. |

It looks kind of funny to have such wonderful props inside a pretty bland, unvarnished case - kind of like making a cake without icing.
May your moral compass guide you true - South West is where the honourable man fare. Pity those who lose their way...

Hey runaway. I have a question for you. What are the differences between victor farellis booklet and andrew galloways cyllinder and coins in the ramsay classics
? I have studied john carneys version and the ramsay classics. Both are really great. But I would really like to know about the farelli booklet. Any input would be great so thanks in advance. bill |

I looked through Andrew Galloway's book one time and, much as I hate to admit it, passed right over the Cylinder & Coins section because I thought it was probably a "re-write" of Farelli's booklet, so I can't tell you if there is any difference.
Farelli could have explained the hand to hand transfer of the stack better, as far as I'm concerned. Until I saw Vernon do the trick many, many years ago, I had no clue what Farelli was trying to convey. Sorry, I can't be of much more help. |
