Does anyone know how to build a reel to hide a 1 lb gimmick??

You might want to consider a "Key-back", or even a couple of them side by side until the weight of the gimmick can be managed.
A potential problem may be the strain the reel puts on your clothing (where you attach it) when you pull out the line(s). Another option might be a retractable clothes line. The size of the reel might be prohibitive, though.

The "tell" of the strain on your clothing can be mitigated by attaching at some other point. The Books of Wonder have an excellent example of a "harness" for attaching reels.

Back pocket. They shouldn't see your back in a show anyway.

Thanks for the ideas. Does anyone know how to make a customized reel because all the reels here are pretty small.

Use several small reels.
Or have a look at retractable dog leads. Paula

Will a reel, pulling on something weighing a pound, pull the object back fast enough? Or do you have a decent cover movement (you should have anyways)?
Perhaps using a topit might be a better choice, depending upon what you are doing. - Donald

Open it up find out where the parts are rubbing or where the sound is coming from and see if you can think of ways to silence it.

A trick I learned from taking apart an old Paul Diamond reel is to make a shim from a piece of good playing card. Then the spring does not rub against the case.

A small indrustrial reel pulley for hanging assembly devices for the production worker to quickly grab and perform his task. These usually hang from above. They have different sizes. It would be a simple matter to remove the stop. I cannot point you to any sites but look for industrial tools for manufacturing.
