Everyone, I am thinking of getting the doves to rabbit made by Chalet Magic. Does anyone have this? If so, I need all the info (number of doves, safety, and everything else).
Thanks in advance. ben |

Ben,
Personally, I believe the Chalet Doves to Rabbit to be the absolute best in the industry. Lucy and I use three of them in our two-hour stage show. (Of course, they are used several ways and not all doves to rabbits. We each use one in our "I've got this friend" routine.) I have two without rollers and one with. Get one on rollers. They are easier to handle. George's equipment is definitely pro class stuff. It will always work and last many hundreds of shows. And he will re-felt them or do other repairs or color changes you may need. In over thirty years, I replaced only one Chalet Doves to Rabbit for damage. It blew off stage during an outdoor show in Oklahoma. The show producer replaced the prop for me. (I did replace a couple I used to produce live lobsters for a client in the 80s. The smell was not something I appreciated. However, I sold them used for nearly what I paid new for them. Resale value is very good on good equipment.) I seldom put more than two doves in one at a time, but they could handle six, if they just had to. Digging animals like rabbits will ruin the felt tops. The tops are replaceable. I have used up to a 13-pound rabbit. The load capacity is large. The paint jobs are excellent. They don't make better support systems for working magicians than George at Chalet. I'm sold! Safety is a given. I don't do tricks that hurt animals. It is built for full sized doves with long tails. There is no short-cut junk from Chalet. Dove's feathers never have to be cut to fit the prop like may be necessary with some of the inferior stuff available. The prop will pack flat for storage. Good Luck! Bob Magic By Sander |

I don't have a Chalet Doves to Rabbit but I can tell you from some other items I have that George built the quality is very good. I am selling my Doves to Rabbit (made my Rich Hill) if you are interested. It no longer fits my show and it is in great condition. If you are interested pm me for details. Best of luck.

I agree with everything said about Chalet's dove to Rabbit. It is a very good reasonably priced prop.
A good equipment does not cost money it saves you in the long run.

I got a doves to rabbit from Hollywood Magic. It was the highlight to my act for a couple years. It will be a good investment. Consider using something other than a rabbit at the end maybe. I've seen it many many different ways. Have fun.

I have the Chalet large version of doves to rabbit, you can use it for like a cat or something like that. They rawk hands down the best ever. When you get it, put a small band of black elastic, about .25 of an inch wide from one side of the pearch to the other. When you're ready to vanish the birds just push this elastic down over the top of the birds, this will act as a sort of seatbelt and keep the bird's from lifting their wings when the drop into the base and it protects them from getting the wings caught under the flap and doing some possible dammage.

One last question is the Chalet version easy to transport?

Yes, the hinges have pins that slide in so all the sides come off and apart so technically you can say it packs flat, but I always transported mine put together and used the space inside to store other props and stuff like that.

If you do this trick several times a week, you do need a can of spray flat black paint to touch up the insides about every 90 days. The outer colored surfaces never seem to need retouching. But everything shows on black also.

I have a Chalet Doves to Rabbit that I absolutely love. It is a great effect. I do like the idea that Dan has though because the doves do try and catch there balance by flapping there wings and they can get caught. It hasn't happened to me personally, but I have seen it happen to other magicians.

MDS,
I've been using Chalet Doves to Rabbit for the last three decades. Currently we use three in the two-hour show. (They don't all produce rabbits.) I've never had one that was not equipped to keep the wings down. Bob Magic By Sander |

Bob,
Like I said I haven't had the problem personally, but I have seen it happen to others. MDS |
