I've done the switch in front of a room of 20 magicians, and no one caught it...and I can guarantee there are many out there who are much smoother at it than I am!

I think Richard is now convinced in buying it! But, I would like to add my own suggestion and it is in keeping with the thread - since we all clearly love this effect. I am sure I'm not alone in this but if you do decide to incorporate this into a routine, as opposed to a stand alone item, can I recommend closing with it? Of course, we all have favourite closers, but we all alternate our routines too, yeah?
Here's the point (there is one!) contrary to a contribution added earlier in the thread, I do perform this with the thesis that the same deck is in use. The ending is knock out and since the cards are now blank, all you can do is shrug, accept your applause and pack up! It's the perfect conclusion.

If the camera is cutting away, this is only when your spectators would be messing with the selected cards....in this respect, it is sneaky. The same thing will happen when you handle the spec, they will be off of the "work" at the right moment.

Looking back a few messages... yes you can do this for groups... I used it at the Magic Castle strolling Olympics, repeated it 10 times (10 different tables) in about an hour... and I don't think ANYONE CAUGHT ANYTHING.

It is absolutely amazing that this flys by people...I can see Dean just laughing as he performs it, and sees all of us destroying specs with it! Thank god the human being can be mis/directed.

David Acer prefers Meir Yedid's "Fadeout" over Blizzard:
"Fadeout, wherein a deck is shown to be normal, then suddenly becomes blank, except for a chosen card, which, at the end, also becomes blank, is probably worth the price of the DVD (though you can in fact purchase this as a separate item). The method is simple and practical, and the effect is constructed in such a way that the vanish of the faces looks extremely magical. I actually prefer this to both Dean Dill's Blizzard nd David Regal's Alone, two prior releases that run along the same lines, but offer less satisfying methods (at least for my taste). Here's the link if your interested in some great reviews: http://www.mylovelyassistant.com/index.p......;rid=409 "

Has anyone had this problem with "Blizzrd"? The backs of the Blizzard blue bikes are darker than the regular ones available in any stores I can find.
Anyone? Thanks, G |

I saw blizzard, and I had to comment. The trick is KILLER!
I once (recently) was walking around performing it multiple times. People really freak when the last card, the one under there hand is the one! It can be immediatly repeated, under certain curcumstances... I just had to tell you that it has been an AWESOME TRICK... and you should definatly get it. Just don't give Penguin your money, buy it from a less sketchy store. |

This is a killer trick!
The downside is carrying around a gaffed deck, etc. I really like to work from my deck or a borrowed deck. Other than than, a great effect. Renaldi |

Based on the comments in this forum, I bought Blizzard by mail order and gave it an initial try on my family. Even these cynics were blown away. This trick fools people.
I used Method 1, but I note that Pete Biro recommends Method 2. Is there a consensus in the forum as to which method is better. Also, there is a recommendation in the instructions to use marked cards for one portion of the routine. I have not tried that yet. How do people feel about this? Finally, I note that the Penguin tape does not follow the recommended routine that calls for the cards to be turned over in a veritable "blizzard" of white cards amidst which the selected card is then turned over by the spectator. This handling is much superior to that in the Penguin tape in my view. Any thoughts? Jim Mullen

Trimph of Blizzard? Both. If I'm doing a "set" I usually start with a non-card effect, then non-gaffed cards (Triumph or slop shuffle if no table) then non-card and as an "afterthought" one more card trick... BLIZZARD.

I practiced blizzard a few times using a D... S....
then.... My magician buddy came over so I did Blizzard for him. He went CRAZY and had no idea. Then I tipped it to him. Like Clint Eastwood...it made my day!!! I don't think it's a trick to carry around from table to table. Pocket space for close-up magicians is limited. I've done Blizzard many times and have never been caught.

I just obtained this effect based on the vast number of recommendations here stated.
The gimmick is flimsy, as noted previously. My main concern however is that at the moment of "the move" there is an obvious sound that may attract attention. How can I address this situation? Any suggestions will be appreciated. José.

It always kills. Just keep in mind that you will be carrying 104 cards in your pocket just for one trick. MMMMMMMMMM. It kills but not my favorite for "walk around" performances. Keep this one at home for your friends to enjoy. Dean is KING in my book! (and a heck of a nice guy all so!).
