I am using Osborne illusion plans to build my sub trunk. I have already built the box and the most of the "special" lid. However, I am having great difficulty finding the hardware to use for the "pivot bolt" mechanism in the gimmick. I got a pm from another individual who had the same problem as I, but he wasn't very descriptive in his method that he used to solve the problem.
Please, please, please. If you know what I'm talking about and can help me, let me know. This is the only thing I'm lacking to complete the trunk, practice, and perform. Thanks! |

I don't have one in mine. I too used Osborne plans. We modified it and routed out a little inset channel insted of the sliding pivot bolt. It works fine for me. Pm me and I'll see if I can get a good picture of the part you are refering to.~Tim

You might have to go to a machine shop or have a illusion builder build it for you.

I used a plate with a slot cut into it. This is set flush into the top. Then, the moving board has a bolt that slide along in the plate. I got the idea after examining a Chalet trunk. BTW, after all the time and trouble building it, if I had to do it again I'd just buy the Chalet trunk; for $800, it's worth the trouble and is one of the best working trunks I've seen.
