The announcement of the reprint of the Compleat Invocation - Volume 3 is one of the books to be reprinted. The issues covered are 37 - 61. Good news, indeed! So if you have the white 900 page 2000 reprint which covered all of the original Invocation issues and issues 1 - 36 of the New Invocation and get this reprint, you will have all of the issues except for the ones where Docc Hilford took over the editing and publishing. Unfortunately, I have no idea if those issues will ever be reprinted. I've already ordered a copy for myself, since this is sort of a 'bible' for bizarre magic. Granted, as Max Maven wrote in the introduction to the second volume, most of the stuff contained in the book is crap. But it is crap that can fire the imagination! There are plenty of diamonds amongst the dung heap. I whiled many an hour making notes and attempts to modify some of the stories to my advatage. It also showed insight into Tony Andruzzi's psyche as one of the earliest bizzarists. All told, I will never part with these books. |

Yes, vol 3 is a prized possession. Along with Vol 1 & 2, and the Additional Portfolio (Yes I have that it is one of the great repositories of Bizarre thought. I disagree with Max. I think whether something is crap or not crap depends solely on one's abilities to use it, not the nature of the item itself. Unless of course the item is literally ****, then it would be accurate to call it crap. If you were to apply that same standard, nearly all magic books would be classified as crap, except for Max's of course

Regrettably, Docc Hilford's Invos will probably never be reprinted. Since it is unlikely that any bizarrist will part with his copies, you simply have to wait for someone to die.
