Hi Maicman what was that image all about? It looked like a lady holding an ace of spades.

Hi. I'm Keith Connelly. I did sell the Firefly through Tannen's when I was a teen in the late 70s, early 80s. You can read a little about it at my 'store' on the Magic Castle Auction site. Also this: http://magic.about.com/od/magicreview/fr/dliteflight.htm
A lot of the knock-offs ignored the physics I used in order to make the appearance of levitation, so if you saw one of my originals, you'd think it looked good. If not, the movement doesn't look that great. The rate at which the LED blinked was also important to the effect. I actually saw one of mine at a vintage booth at a magic expo for sale, not too long ago in the original container I sold it in. If you have any questions, ask away. I know this is an old thread.-Keith |

This illusion was on sale here at the Magic Café not so long ago - I believe it was a Canadian magician, but not sure.
Maybe it was sold as nothing turned up in the search... |

I think I made about 50 total over a few years. I made them by hand. The second version (Firefly 2000) had a dimmer you could make the LED dim and then vanish and then show up elsewhere. It had a much smaller LED so the gimmick wire could also be smaller than the first version. You could do that one about 5 to ten feet from someone and they couldn't see the gimmick (I used flat silicon rubber epoxy, over the wire so it wouldn't 'flash' and also it made the movement springier and less likely to break at this small size). I performed it at the Magic Castle to a table of four in room lighting and it worked. The additions to the original weren't in the patent (I wrote that patent myself so it's probably not so great a patent. I think I just wore the patent examiner out).-Keith

Ancient thread from 2004 . . . . Info's no longer needed from my side. I'm positive though this info will be useful to others.
