The dollar stores often have $1.00 kids magic effects. I like to have some on me. Simple effects like the talking dice and crayon colours.

Kyle,

Can one make copies of the magician assistant certificates? I do it with another piece that I roll into a wand.

I created my own Magician Assitant Certificate for use at birthday parties. This is customized for the birthday child with his or her name on it.

Also I just started using the roll-up wand idea. These are great as they are customized with my contact info and a few tricks and jokes for the kids.

I also like to use the Fortune Telling Fish. However, since I want to avoid the "fortune telling" idea, I created new artwork to include my contact info and logo, renamed the fish, and reassigned the meanings of the various contortions of the fish. I also threw away the plastic holder and put everything inside a clear plastic holder. It seemed odd "telling" a child that he was "false", or "fickle" or a "dead one". So, now all the meanings are on a positive note and indicate the mood instead of the personality. ie, "relaxed" "Let's have some fun" etc...

Quick question about the fortune telling fish give-away, to kids of what age range do you give these?

To those who are doing the Eric Henning routine with the fortune telling fish, for kids of what age do you perform this effect (and give the fish?) The ages could be different because a card is involved in the second question.

Thanks!

I give all the kids a postcard with a magic trick on one side, (Jumping bands, Billy helped me with the photos) and my details on the other.

It means I can have a laugh with the kids as they have often seen both of us, I tell them that the next time they see Billy they can tell him they''ve seen his hands on the card and the throw off his settee.

I use the magicians certificates but very rarely, and they have a small bit of black so when you roll them up. It looks like a wand! The kids don't really seem to like them much so I only use them for big show were I have lots of helpers as they pretty cheap.

Most of the dollor stores around me are starting to carry Fantasma magic products. I know from working with Roger and the crew at Fantasma that there products are great and I use a couple of them as giveaways for my kids shows.

I got my magician assistant certificates way back when from Ed Harris. Now I mainly redesign them from time to time to fit a particular event or need. It is fun and easy for me to do as I am a designer and it brings a particular focus to any event I am at.

There are many dollar stores around here and I visit them all. I like DollarTree though as they tend to have some of the better stuff. I just always keep my eyes open.

Magic wands I get at US Toy company. They come in a dozen and are not bad at all price wise. They are also big and made out of plactic.

I have found that the kids LOVE the certificates and also love the coloring flyers I hand out. If I give one to every kid who helps me on stage, it seems that every kid wants one afterwards.

Just attended Stan Kramien's lecture. He had a nice magic-themed coloring book he used to sell after his big shows which also included 12 fully-illustrated and easy to perform tricks. All I need to do is to add a magic assistant certificate and I think that would be the ideal gift.
