Is it necessary to do great stunts like Blaine and Copperfield to become well-known to the public?

Where do they learn these stunts?

Are there any books that can be of any help creating this type of "great" stunt?

Why don't you try just performing YOUR magic for the public, maybe you'll be just as famous as they are, and if that doesn't work, then you can get a multi-billion dolar company like ABC or FOX to sponsor you so you can freeze yourself Smile .

I was living in Fresno at the time that "Amazing Joe" (No, I am not making up the name.) performed the buried alive stunt at a local amusement park, and was, in fact, buried alive.

Amazing Joe was basically a magic dabbler with delusions of grandeur, who wanted fame, but didn't have the discipline or desire to pay the price. That he thought the name "Amazing Joe" lent him an aura of mystery shows his excruciating lack of self-awareness.

Start small. Do a card trick for the mayor. Get a local newspaper to rave about your performance at a local restaurant (Which, of course, means that you must be good.). Peform at a high-visibilty charity event. Get a show performing for the police or fire department, or at a political fundraiser.

Eventually you'll be big enough that you can afford all of the experts needed to pull off safely the large stunts you're thinking of.

Well said Darrin, I have seen and heard of many magicians who have dabbled with escapology just to get some exposure. For some-- the next exposure was in a casket or a hospital bed.

Both David's practise long and hard for their stunts, they talk with and learn from experts in field that they want to try, the more you learn and practise from those who know the better off you are.

Start small and work your way up. We had to learn to stand before we could walk.

Take Care and be safe,
