I believe there was once book called something like "how to make your own gimmicked cards" Does anyone know the actual title, or where I can find something like that?

I did actually go to two magic shops looking for it, but did you mean a specific location or just in general?

The Art of Card Splitting with Martini (DVD), sold in penguinmagic.com is very good. Go and look at yourself:

For those who are still reading this topic, I purchased a DVD for just under $30. A very boring man goes over in excruciating detail, how to make your own gimmicked cards. I feel this was well worth the price even though the video is fairly short. Using standard material that everyone has at home, and a certian special deck of cards you can make pretty much anything your imagination can think of.
The only thing missing was how to make a card with a door hinge in it. but that is all right.... remember "door hinge" rhymes with "orange".
