2 weekends ago I gave the Miracle Coin Board a work out during two outdoor festivals. The first event was 2 hours and the second event was 1 hour. I must have performed this effect about 50 times. I had used the cap shown in my book to vanish the coin and bring it back.
I experienced knowing looks when I lifted the cap off the board. But when I turned the cap over to show the inside and turned the board to show the other side, I experienced the looks of disbelief. This is a great effect and now a main item in my strolling set. Don't discount this effect. It kills!!

I use the one from The Cuckoo's Nest Magic Shop in Pittsburgh. They only hold a penny or a dime but they have good action. I usually get 3 or 4 at a clip and use the best ones for gigs and the harder ones for practice.

Nice thread. I've had a coin board on my desk at work under a coaster, so it looks like the coaster that it is. I always keep a dime or penny in it so I can make an invisible coin visible and then invisible again. I don't know where I got it, but it's problably one of the worst as it has three tones of wood. Even so, no one catches on to it. Maybe some day, someone can revise it and give it a magnetic lock and perhaps eliminate the noise it makes when a coin is inside. If it was made just for one specific size coin, the inside could be made just to fit that coin snuggly. I would love to be able to make a coin vanish and hand out the board. I think it would also be nice to have one that produces two coins instead of one.

The problem with a snug fit is humidity. That could swell the wood making the coin not fit at all.
I have boards that work fine in dry cool weather and become unworkable on a hot, humid summer day.

I intend to get the "Coin Board" book soon! I recently got a board at an estate sale for a pittance. I remembered the board from my youth (about 1963 or so) but don't recall that I had one -- and I must not have, as I'll relate below! I picked the board up again tonight to practice the vanish -- with which I was having difficulty. Now here's the funny part. I thought the coin had to fall through into the palm...!!! Really! I was trying to figure out how to conceal the coin, etc. etc. Well long story short. I'm practicing tonight with a dime, and I watched the Copperfield demo again and noticed a slight "move." I tried the move -- and low and behold the dime disappeared... I thought it should have fallen to the floor! But it hadn't. I thought it must have fallen onto my lap! But it hadn't! Where was it??? Well serendipity ! I discovered it!!!!! Although if I had read the prior posts carefully I would have known!!!
Pleasantly surprised! I love this thing! Phil |

It’s an old trick that isn’t made anymore. Those being sold are the last of a son to be extinct breed. One guy contacted me and he made his one. It looked really good too. The guy has some crazy woodworking skills, and the proper tools needed.
I worked at D Robbins for a few years before I moved to upstate NY. They sold some good boards then but I discovered it after the fact. I tried contacting as many magic shops I could think of that might have carried those boards and managed to locate only a few. The cool thing is that not many will have seen this before. So if this becomes part of a working set for you it’ll be pretty rare that someone else working the same gig as you would have it.
