Hi
I hate reading, I can't even sit down and read half a magazine without getting bored. My 2 brothers could sit ther reading novels for 4 hours straight. My brother goes through a whole series a wk with like 500 pages in each book. Back to the point. Yesterday I went to the book store to look at the last magic books and found a optical illusion book called "The Fantastic world of optical illusions" and it has over 300 optical illusions. I sat the for 45min staring at one picture. It's so kool and all of them are completely different and then it tells you a bit about why the artist chose it. It's so kool that it's scary. I recommend it to anyone. I give it 8/10 |

Sound like someone needs to be introduced to the works of Jerry Andrus!

There is a brilliant optical illusion called 'motion camouflage'. It is just being understood although odonata (dragonflies) have been using it for 200 million years.
Insects that use this technique sneak up on their prey in a way that makes them seem stationary even though they are in fact moving closer. They do this by keeping themselves positioned between a fixed point in the landscape and their prey. It has long been suspected that male dragonflies and other flying insects use this technique during aerial battles, and this has recently been confirmed (New Scientist print edition, 7 June). And now, biologists Andrew Anderson and Peter McOwan at Queen Mary College, University of London, have shown that humans can fall for the same trick (Biology Letters, DOI: 10.1098/rsbl.2003.0030).

I don't buy those books. Mostly because I can't see the optical illusions. My eyes do not focus on the same area at the same time. When the right looks ahead the left looks to the left and vica versa.

Reading novels may be the wrong thing for you. Get to a Barns and Nobel and hit the non-fiction sections...science sections or biographies etc. (Secret: Unless it's Edgar Rice Burroughs, I can't read novels either.) Doug

Terry Pratchett's Discworld series! Bad gags and bizarre jokes! Think Monty Python in a fantasy setting!

Shelf Life is also a great book, where else can you learn about such products like Puke Playing Cards, Bo Bee Juice Drink or the ever tasty Grated Fanny Tuna Fish (which you can wash down with Bra milk)?
It's not out for a few weeks but I got a chance to see a preview copy and could not stop laughing.
A direct from text adaptation : The Strange Case Of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde Starring Mickey Rooney in his final role.
