WOW! I never knew this would go to the point it has. Thanks Al for your kind comments they are appreciated. I would like to point out that as the creator of the effect I'm flattered by those who want to obtain it by other means since mimicking is a sincere form of flattery or so I've been told. Those who wish to use other types of stickers are going to do what they want regardless of the outcome. I want to point out one last time (I hope!) that I am only the creator, the marketing rights for the trick as well as the stickers belong to JB Magic. I was impressed with their package and think they did a real good job. The folks who help pay my bills are lay people which is for whom this effect was designed to appeal to. I am also glad that magicians for the most part seem to like it as well. It was created with the worker in mind. My handling is not the same as the instuctions. Mr. Mason was thinking of the average card handling abilities of the large part of his customer base. And I might add simplicity is what makes magic amazing to people (Vernon spent the latter years of his life proving that). I do hope that those that are interested will give it a try. There are several dealers here in the US that are carrying it and believe it or not I am not getting rich by no means. I wanted to give something back to the Brotherhood (remember that word?) and also let people know a little of my style. I know it is not the be all end all of card tricks. As I've said in an earlier post, if it appeals to you great, if not, ok too. Thanks again to all who have purchased it as well as those who did not. I am very grateful for the ALL the comments.

Mak Magic is one, some of the magic shops that have it are Elmwood Magic, and Aaron Fisher's Magic Warehouse. I will try to get you more info as well. thanks again.

I have a question. Let me start out by saying I agree with everyone that says a creator should be paid. I know how this trick works but I think it's a great angle on Red Hot Momma and I'm going to buy it.
Here's my question to the group here: Once I buy this trick and the secret therein, is it unethical to buy my own shark stickers elsewhere once my original supply wears out? |

I bought this (as we all should) and it is great.
I hightly suggest it. Nothing says the card must be signed. You could have a post it note signed and stuck on the card. If you own a wow, you can start with the shark in it's tank! Nice convincer......IMHO You can even turn this into a 3 card reveal. |

If you like performing this you will enjoy doing 'THE STICKMAN' (send in stickman to find card bla bla) from Richard Saunders, I cannot remember what volume of his dvd's but thought I would mention it for those times when you run out of stickers
Magic or just an illusion? it's a free choice .... isn't it?

In reality, this effect can be done where the shark finds three cards!

Just a quick 2 cents on this and sorry if its off topic...
Legally there is nothing wrong with seeing a live performance and copying it, verbatim, from memory. Legally there is also nothing wrong with seeing an illusion and reverse engineering it. Or even using the gist of someone else's presentation which you saw on tape or read as long as you aren't copying a *significant* portion of their entier performance. Copyright very specifically and only covers the copying of a significant portion of an artistic expression that is fixed in a tangible medium. It doesn't cover ideas, only the expression of those ideas, and only so much as that expression is physically recorded in some way. Now, there may be trade ethics to consider, but those have nothing to do with the law but, rather, a mutual agreement among members of a trade to act in a specific way. Ethically I honestly don't have a problem with reverse engineering something and making up my own routine around it. I draw my limit at exposing or selling it to others if it is a commercial product that I reverse engineered. Also, given the value of my time, a product has to be pretty expensive to motivate me to reverse engineer it unless I am looking to improve on it in some way.

Do you really think that the successful magicians who use IT buy it wrapped on a card in an envelope? Most know the source so they go directly to it instead of paying a huge mark up on it at a magic shop. I could name many more examples, but what would be the point? There will always be those who feel that they can impose rules and ethics upon others without their consent, with the threat that if they do not adhere to those ethics, they will be considered unethical, and brought before the High Wizard to be banished forever. :) If someone who watches a magic demo is able to figure out how it's done, they are not morally or legally bound to pay the creator for the trick. And, it is not stealing! No theft has taken place. When I say steal and theft, I am referring to the legal defintion of theft. I am big on suporting new talents and innovative idea's. I am tired of supporting those who can't put enough into what they do to come up with something original. I don't want to support those who are looking for short cuts and 15 minutes of fame. I don't want to pay for a routine to a trick I already know, and I shouldn't have to. It's not too hard to figure out the moves from the demo. No one is to blame for that except the trick itself. It's a great idea, but not JBmagic's. All it looks like to me is a variation of other similiar tricks already on the market.
