I wear long sleeves, but I think it all depends on your character and/or the venue.

If you're talking about dress shirts, the general word is "never buy short-sleeved dress shirts." They're for pencil-necked geeks.
But there are new styled shirts, with collars, that have short sleeves. They're not meant to be used with a tie, and they're cut that way. If you want a casual look, they look pretty sharp. |

Long sleeved shirts look much more professional, and you can roll up the bottoms of the sleeves slightly, if you are performing manipulation.
