My name is Cheryl and I'm looking to start learning magic. I was wondering if there is anyone here from Houston willing to take on an apprentice. I'd really appreciate any help.

I would contact Bill Palmer through here at the Café. He could tell you all about the Houston Magic Scene.

Hey Paula,

That's a great list!! How did you do that? I tried the search function but member list is not an option.

Go to members and click on the FROM word at the top of the list.

the url
http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/bb_me......art=3950

Has a number at the end and is the members number - there are 30 members per page so to go forward 50 members just add 50 to the last bit of the url so 3950 becomes 4000 and then press return.

There are two Society of American Magicians (SAM) Assemblies in Houston and an Inernational Brotherhood of Magicians Ring as well as the Houston Asociation of Magicians.

There is a beginners class once a month at Frankels Costumes that you might be interested in.

You can find all that information here: http://www.houstonmagic.com/

Good luck.

PM me if you need more info.

If you ever get your head out of that bucket let me know what part of town you live in. I am trying to start an Orlando Magic Meet Up group for magic hobbyists in Houston, so far only one ohter Magician has expressed interest in this. I thought that Houston would be a great city for this since it is the 4th largest in the country, so far I've been disappointed. However the organized associations, SAM, IBM, TAOM, HAOM have execeptional participation; the SAM Assembly here offers monthly teaching lectures by notable national & international performers.

The only problem that I have with these wonderful groups is the conspicuous lack of learning and interacting opportunity with other magicians. There is no teaching and practicing sessions. That is why I am exploring this Meet Up thing. The Frankel's deal is limited to youngsters up to age 16 or 17 I think, it is basically sponsored by SAM as The Society of Young Magicians (SYM). If you are a minor then this is the ticket for you.

On the other hand if you are an adult and if the west side is convenient for you send me a PM. I sent you a PM on this subject earlier.
