Ladies and Gentelmen,
Some of our beloved friends from the past are suspects in trail. The charge MURDER. You might remember them. Colonel Mustard Professor Plum Mrs. Peacock (my 3rd grade teacher!) Mrs.White Mr. Green and Miss Scarlet. Mr. Body had no real friends, he was that rich! As these lines are given, you remove your wallet and a pen and place them before you. I have with me tonight 3 world famous psychics to help us discover what happened that fateful night! Psychic #1 will concentrate his energy on the person, 2's engery will be on the murder weapon, and 3's on the location of the murder it's self. To help out I have the case file pictures! 3 stacks of cards are handed out, 1 to each psychic, the people, the places, and the things. Look at you cards carefully, use your powers. And choose 1 wisely! Do not remove that card, just picture it in your mind's eye. Here is a business card on the back please write down what you are concentrating on and pass it to the next person untill all have written. This card will seal your commitment and from then on there will be no changes of mind. When finished place face down the table, let no one see whats written. The business card is placed in a zippered compartment in the wallet in full veiw. The cards are gathered and placed in a box. You now remove 3 pieces of blank paper from your wallet all done in plain view. You write something down fold the paper and place it in front of psychic 1,the same for 2, and finally 3. Ladies and gentelmen, I know who is responcable for this unspeakable act! And tonight you will too. If my psychics are on target. Psychic 1 who would do such a thing? "Mrs.White" , number 2 what weapon did she use? "Revolver" Ah! Not just a weapon but a *** good album by the beatles! 3, where did this unspeakable act take place? "The Study". Ladies and gentelman, you have heard from the best. Mrs.White with a revolver in the study! Please open the papers before you. Our psychics or 100% correct! I knew I could count on you. This has become an after dinner effect of mine. Im sure a lot of you know how it is done, for you..i hope you will give this a try and see the shocked faces when other people realize that they have "The Power"! Enjoy Magickman

Back in June of 2001, in my Showtime column in the Linking Ring magazine, I did a routine tited "I Haven't Got A Clue", later renamed "Clueless" when I marketed it.
Its a sleightless version of solving a murder in the game of Clue (roughly -- very roughly!) As a (you should excuse the expression!) clue, it was NOT Col. Mustard, in the library, with the candlestick! LOL! |

I hope the guys who used their clue routines back in the days (2004) are still doing so.
I just developed my own and I think I got some nice forces, one might even be new. Please let me know! 1.) The weapon is forced with a "koran style" force deck. (Think scanner and photoshop) 2.) The room is forced very boldly, and I think this principle has never been used in such a contex. (think "Casino Royale from becker, and again photoshop) 3.) Now the suspects are handled with the multiple out principle, which can be used very logical in this routine. 5 envelopes aren't that hard to hide among all the Props from the game. Its a great "plays big packs small" routine, since I used the Travel Edition from "Clue" from arround 1995.

Mogwai,
Sounds like a great routine to me! I remember hearing Gede saying a good routine can be murder, but I didn't know it could be this much fun. Excellent!!! Magickman

Whilst I know that the topic seems to be revolving around the game, Clue, I took a different approach in a project last year. I'm sure its not an original idea as it seems way too logical as a performance piece for someone not to have thought of it before. I note from a post above that Osiris is working on an e book so I'll not give anything away here other than the outline.
Instead of the game, the magician introduces an evidence box that was acquired at an auction of a private detectives offices in town. He explains that the box appears to contain the evidence relating to an unsolved murder. During the routine he guides the audience through each piece of evidence (performing a magic effect with each, to steer the group onto the next clue). There are many cheap marketed effects that can be incorporated into this. Eventually the audience solve the murder, with a very bizarre twist at the end. I was also inspired by the trend of "murder" dinner parties at one point and thought a working magician might be able to get quite a bit of work that way. If anyone wants more details just PM me and we can discuss some of the props and mini effects that make up the whole routine - it can be an entire evenings entertainment. Simon |

Magickman:
Thanks a lot, I'm having a lot of fun with it. Its a very nice mental routine with a light touch, so its also useable on weddings or birthdays.
