Stop it with "fried!" Every trick, every ad, every review, every post... "This fries them every time!" "We were fried!" "You'll fry 'em!" Enough, already... how about a "verbal cholesterol moratorium?" And let's not go back to "killed" either. Here are a few suggestions:

"Your audience will find this truly baffling."

"We were amazed!"

"You'll leave them enshrouded in inexplicability!" (Well... all right...)

Also: befuddled, dumbfounded, mystified, flabbergasted, nonplussed, confused, delighted and my personal favorite: enchanted (oh, that's a good one!)

I read it as they asked the spectator if they wanted fries with it.
...to all the coins I've dropped here

Why not "baked", "sauteed", "broiled," "boiled", "roasted?"
Oh, yeah..."barbequed..." Magic munchies...magic to excite your culinary capacity...magic to excite your salivary glands...magic to make you hungry...magic to make you drool...
Will you walk into my parlour? said the Spider to the Fly,
Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy;
The way into my parlour is up a winding stair,
And I've a many curious things to show when you are there.

Oh no, no, said the little Fly, to ask me is in vain,
For who goes up your winding stair
-can ne'er come down again.

Yeah... Let's go with Shane Walker. Would that be as an adjective or adverb?

They went Shane Walker after it.

They were left Shane Walker.

I still think they want fries with their card tricks.

Of course, you're more likely to fry an audience if you know the real work.

Penguin quotes Jay Sankey in today's e-mail:

""EXTREMELY MENTAL features the most astonishing and original collection of mentalist effects I have ever seen. During my recent US tour, I performed several of the routines, including 'Perfect Timing,' 'Mona Lisa,' 'Color Blind,' and 'Facsimile,' and more often than not FRIED everyone in the room."

So, when you see those crispy people stumbling into the ER smelling like bacon, Jay Sankey did it! Grrrr...

I assume you mean "try TO . . .", even though "try and" is an error that even network anchors make.

A district attorney may "try to" convict a person, but only a judge can "try and" convict that same person.
