I know this has been discussed before. What do you guys like to do in real world settings, no gimmicks, coins accross for standing and then for seated occassions.,
Lets hear what people like to do |

No gimmicks?

I don't do a coins across while seated, mainly because I don't do a lot of magic while seated.
For stand up, no gimmick coins across, I do Greg Wilson's 3/4 Across from On the Spot. I believe Jay Sankey has a version but I can't recall the name of it. -Corey

Are there major differences between "Mr. Clean" and "wilsons 3/4"?

The differences I remember are 2.
The 3rd coin "actually" goes accross in a different way. Also, I think wilson's timing is different on the second coin's "actual" travel. Since I'm more used to the Sankey version, I get fooled even though I know what is going to happen from the wilson version. it just happens sooner than I expect. 95% the same.

I've been working for some time on doing the top steal of the coin as Roth indicates for winged silver and still cannot manage to consistantly get the coin into classic palm when I have 4 coins. The 1/2 dollers of the remainder of the pile usually prevent me from pushing the top coin into classic palm easily.
Now I can do 4 coins with a top steal using quarters, but the Kennedy Halves are frustrating me alot. I do better when I only have 3 halves vs 4. Any tips or should I just limit the routine to 3 coins vs 4 , 4 but use quarters vs half dollars. |

I assume you don't have a problem pushing the top coin off the stack onto your fingertips. Are you having a problem closing your hand into a fist while holding 3 coins in finger palm? Are your hands small?
For me the move was not a hard one to learn, but I have enough room to push the coin into classic palm while holding 3 others in finger palm. If the move just won't work for you, change to another. You can lay the coins on your palm up hand with the bottom most coin laying right in classic palm position. When you turn your hand over, you contract your palm muscles and just retain one coin in classic palm allowing the others to drop. Since your closing your hand into a fist anyway, feel free to press the coin in better if you need. |

Hello, About the coins across with no gaffs or gimmicks, I have my own routine, based on the Z-Coins Across of Larry Jennings, I perform, a friction steal for the first coin, then for the second coin I perform a variation of the click pass to steal one of three coins, the third coin I use a click pass and for the last coin I use Lin Pen Hand to Hand change, and I finish with the last coin travelling to the spectators hands with the other three.
Is easy and very magic this coins across routine. BEST REGARDS MAGO68

Great Question kakronen:
I have to say coins across is my old standby. I do several different versions including the "meld of methods" I now call my own. In the restaurant setting where most of the demand is at the moment, a standing, "tabled coin version" is my preference. I use the table to "show" the coins. I do not use a close-up mat. Through adaptive dexterity, this has taught me to accomplish my effects on any surface. At times when I am standing and my spectators are standing, I will use the outstretched palm of a volunteer. Always. This adds a tremendous value to the effect of course! I use four coins for the "clean version" but I sacrifice a killer ending without a "fifth" coin that is difficult to reproduce otherwise. So in reality, I really use five coins, in a four coin routine. Hey, I am giving away my secrets! Keep Thinking! This is Great!

Ammar has a super easy version on his Intro to Coins DVD. It uses basic sleight of hand and just four coins.

Winged Silver!!!
Patter is wrong. Some of the moves look wierd. There is no build. And you finish the same way you start? I love this trick but, there is so many changes to it it looks almost like a different trick. The patter is changed. And I have made the moves all look motivated. It's not the tricks, it's the people.

The Paul Harris Stars of Magic 5 Video has the PDQ Coins across on it, as the finale to a four cards, four coins across, that goes to a two card 4 coins across, to a one card four coins across to the PQD (no cards) coins across.
It is excellent! And I dont even do coins! But the Paul Harris Teaching on this is excellent and there is never more than 4 coins involved. So I have already started doing the PDQ Coins across. BroDavid

It's only a two-coins routine, but it's still coins across -- the Tenkai Pennies. This routine is taught in Bobo, and Roth and others have offered updates and variations.
Effect: You very cleanly show one coin on each palm. The hands never approach each other after this show. One coin is heard to arrive -- clink! -- with the other one. Now you show two coins in one hand, none in the other. Jerry |
