Is anyone familiar with Wellington's latest release called, Executive Sawing in Half?
If so, please comment. If you have not yet read about this illusion, visit: http://www.wellingtonent.com/document/execsaw.html Also, if you are familiar with Wellington's reputation as a producer of quality equipment, please comment. Many thanks.

While I am not familiar with this illusion, Bill Schmeelk of Wellington is a first class builder all the way. I've visited his shop in Rockland County, NY and seen his work. His Visible Guillotine is a thing of beauty.

Thanks for confirming the high quality of Wellington craftsmanship Jim. An endorsement from you is both valued and respected.
I've just discovered that there is currently a thread where a recent purchaser has shared his thoughts and review of this particular item. His comments are extremely positive. All those interested should visit this thread at: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......orum=112 Jonathan

Jonathan,
My opinion as a builder myself....Bill is an AMAZING Craftsman and a great guy. His quality is top notch. I have seen this Illusion close up and it is an excellent piece of work. You will be more than pleased with his updated workings as well as the overall quality. Take care, Chance Wolf Wolf's Magic

Your opinion is also of great value Chance. Especially with the care that you give to crafting your own magical effects.
Thank you. Jonathan

I sw this at SAM and it is gorgeous. I have always considered getting the Owen Bow Saw as it is one of the best. It still does have a few advantage over Bill's but I would go with Bills.
Little things like taking care of the sawdust problem from the sawing may seem be minor but they can be troublesome. If I had the use for it, I would jump at the chance to get one. It is a great prop that should play very well and give years of dependable use. I know of other props of Wellington's that have been trouped over 20 years and still work great.

Richard,
Thanks for the Wellington endorsement. Still, I'm curious to know more details about the "sawdust problem", and if it is the Owen or the Wellington version that has this problem (or both). I look forward to your reply. Jonathan

I guess I'll chime in too .. I can't say enough about Bill and Wellington Ent. He's the nicest guy to do business with and his props are top quality. I've got a couple of his illusions and I would never trade them. I played with the new Sawing in Vegas and it's awesome! If I figure out a spot in my show for it .. I'm all over it. It's by far the best I've seen .. all the problems have been figured out .. the workmanship is incredible. Trust me .. just get it .. really .. do it.

As I understand it, the owen version does not have an opening on the bottom of the framework to allow the sawdust to be easilky cleaned out. It has been many years since I worked this with Blackstone so my memory may be a little faulty. It is still a reliable unit but you need to keep the sawdust cleaned out or it can mess up the mechanism in the bottom.
Wellington does a have a better clean out area and the blade does not have to be put in, lifted out and reseated to switch the blades. Hope that helps.

Billy's saw is far superior than the others on the market.

I had a chance to see this at the MAGIC Live! conference out in Vegas, and I can only add my comments to the chorus. It is a *lovely* piece of equipment and I think Robert Harbin himself would be delighted at the improvements made by Bill Schmeelk.
I don't have a use for it currently, but if I did, I'd get the one from Wellington. Having seen it close-up, I can vouch for both the quality and the deceptiveness of the apparatus. Jeremy |
