Is anyone working a situation where they must perform multiple Halloween seances for a limited audience? I have a situation where a party host wants to have a seance available for his guests (about 50-80 people) during the party. It will be a short show, but the audience is welcome to come and go as they please (not during the show, but they may see the show multiple times)
I'm not too worried about the situation, but a primary element of seance work is surprise. I am afraid people will talk during the party and lessen the impact for the later audiences. Richard |

Well, it's the obvious response but...how about multiple effects that you switch out from sitting to sitting?

Richard, you need to have the seance as far away from the party as possible. In the garage or den if possible. You do not want it in the living room right next to the party. And to avoid repeating the show you could make it a multiple part story with an intro that explains what has happen in the previous seance. Just some thoughts.

Jerry,
I like the idea of progressing the story throughout the evening. I could have different spirit characters from the same story come and give different viewpoints of the same events. I can almost visualize a murder mystery that gets solved by the victims themselves. As far as the venue goes, I couldn't ask for a better situation. I will have the use of a "mother-in-law" apartment next to the house. |

Richard, that is perfect. The only thing that should float in are ghost and the occassional drunk. Is the mother-law alive. I can see some interesting source for jokes here. If she is alive, tell the mother-law her apartment is haunted and she has to move (he-he)I am such a ***.
The different viewpoints is an excellent route. Now devise certain means of other world communication that only works for that charactor; one ghost only table raps; another writes on a chalk board and so forth. Give them thier own history, then you can devise each effect with that. If each act is about an hour, you should only need 3 to 4 acts. Have one charactor introduced with each act and until finally you have 4 ghost present and inter acting. Jerry |
