Hi guys I'm very interested in starting to expand over from magic into hypnosis and nlp related stuff but I have some basic questions for you guys.

1. What exactly is the difference between NLP and hypnosis?

2. Assuming their IS a difference which would you recommend learning and reaidng about first?

3. I saw on a website (http://wendi.com/video/html/the_big_o.html) that hypnosis can affect your body in an uh.....interesting way. I just wanted to know if this sort of thing is possible and at all practical?

Thanks
Nappa

PS: if 3 is true I could see why you hypnotists are popular guys Smile

1. NLP is defined as the study of the structure of subjective experience and is a behavioral model AND an explicit set of skills and techniques which were, in part, developed from hypnosis (among other things).

2. It totally depends on what you want to do; however, it should be noted that NLP guys going into hypnosis usually make sh*tty hypnotists. Whereas hypnotists going into NLP usually become better hypnotists. (Just an observation; perhaps best supported by the reasoning that NLP tends to color ones thinking about hypnosis, whereas hypnosis tends to make one want to learn more via NLP).

3. Wendi was recently ripped by Penn and Teller on their show. Hmmm. Is enlargement possible? Empirically speaking, no. However, I've seen overwhelming anecdotal evidence - enough to justify studying this seriously. (But who would fund that?)

Personally, I've had several girlfriends who swear it works. Though, I think Wendi's program isn't nearly as good as the program designed by the originator of the idea: Laurie Gregg. She helped out the runner-up on Howard Stern's "World's smallest ***" contest. Wendi kinda ripped it off of her. Badly.

NLP is a buzz word that was originalty created by bandler/grinder. much of their wrting is valid as is much of their followers. nlp to an extent is an explanation of hypnotic suggetion, or a least its structure linguisticticly.
Hypnosis and trance have never been defined of proved so every one has an opinion. none are proved. an open feild which makes it more fun.
"Hypnotic realties" rossi & erickson is a good start but wonder words Kenton is essential if your aim is magic.

Milton model anyone?

How does eliciting experiences and anchoring them differ from hypnosis for the stage performer?
...to all the coins I've dropped here

Very different. Much more direct and nonconscious influence for the stage performer. For instance, I do a routine called Brotherhood in my hyp show that deals with hidden ideas like racism. It makes some people cry. Now, most times, when you're listening to someone, your mind is going different places, recalling or thinking about different things. However, during emotionally-charged things like this (and really great comedy), you're so riveted, you're not really thinking about anything else; the process of eliciting emotions is thus, non-conscious. Sure, many principles are similar, however, it's so elevated onstage that no veteran stage performer would ever say they're equal. Case in point: Erikson did a lot of healing, but he never came close to, say, what Benny Hinn does now--Erikson didn't have the power of the stage.
