Hi everyone...

Someone was talking to me about an old illusion called Walking Away From Your Shadow. It sounds like an interesting plot.

Apparently it is in an old book somewhere...

Does anyone know about this illusion.

Thanks

Scott

A cheap and inexpensive way of doing this would be in Gary Darwin's Inexpensive Illusions.

That was crazy! I assume it was from sort of Japanese game show.

I saw an acrobat at the Wintergarten in Berlin a few years ago who had a partner behind a screen mimicing all of his moves. It gave a good impression of being a shadow. At the end of the routine, they suddenly started doing separate moves, as if the shadow split. It was very impressive.

That is a sweet video. I have seen that before. Very neat. Looks like there are mirrors or something of some sort used for the shadowing boucing of the wall.

It's in an old Blackstone magic book. I seem to remember it has something to do with a phosphorous-treated shade.

Great video ( although some things are a bit out of sync and the shadow ball appears twice in some places), and the best thing of all - the screams from the audience!!!

At science museums they have this thing that makes a temporary picture of your shadow on a screen.

Thanks for your help so far guys!

Apparently in a Thurston book, Blackstone (with the help of Walter B. Gibson) had a portable Walking Away From a Shadow Illusion. However, the book says no more than this.

Meanwhile Regan's video link is just brilliant!
