Funny how the old tricks really fooled the new guys in magic, and the old guys too. I started doing the Bachelor's Needle with just a piece of small cord or rope. I suprisingly fooled most of my magic friends with it. It's great for strolling magic, and need no set up time. This is one trick that everyone wanted to have a go at. Try it guys, you may like it.

We've included this in our workshop for the Girl Scouts of the Philippines.
Because of its simplicity, we taught it to girls aged 5 and above. And yes, most of the magicians that taught it that day don't know how it's done. So, I taught it to them first. |

I went to buy a few tuxedo pants at the store.
I blew everyone away with this trick. It's so simple, yet everyone seemed puzzle when I do it. Richard. |

George Sands had a routine for it. Fun stuff!

Hello:
Is the the routine where you wrap the cord around your thumb to make the "spool" and then make the eye of the needle with the remaining part of the cord? Ron |

Yep Ron, that's the one.
You're right Alan Munro, real fun stuff. I did it at a strolling gig today and everyone was telling the next person to see the trick with the thumb. Richard. |

WOW! I saw this trick demonstrated in Daryl's Rope video. I thought it was cute, but who would be fooled by it or like it at all. Thanks for all the comments, I'm going to watch the tape again and then try it out on some people.

Simplicity is always the best. The impossible knot effect is a killer when performed correctly for layman.

This is for sale as a Penguin Download as 'Eye Of The Tiger'. I did it the first time I tried after just seeing the Demo. But I paid for the trick anyway ($5.95) just to be fair, since in reality Jay taught me. .
It's a nice bit, and I just drove my Wife nuts with it, so I'm happy. But it's one of those tricks you don't even have to know how to do---just follow the demo and it just 'happens'. Doug

Richard, you are absolutely right. I have been doing Bachelor's Needle for about 20 years now. It is a real fooler and fun to do. You can do it with almost anything---rope, shoe lace, ribbon, the cord on a mouse, etc. It's great for walk-around.

Who developed this trick? I ask because I come up with a signifigant and marketable improvment that I would like to sell, but I don't want to step on any toes. Ive done a little research and it seems everybody does it but nobody credits anyone for the idea.
Thanks in advance, Kingtriton
