Many years ago - and I mean many! - I had a prop. called here in the UK a Magic Mangle. Don't know who made it but it was a fantastic routine.
It was about 15 inches wide, probably about 12 inches high. It was based on an old style mangle - or washing wringer, you know the thing, they used to wash clothes in a tub then put them through these things by turning a handle. Anyway, I used to make a black and white picture of Mickey mouse coloured, through passing it through; a piece of plain paper into a £5 note, a piece of plain paper into postage stamps, a school exam sheet went in with the questions unanswered and came out the other end all answered etc. Such a simple device to load, but great impact with kids. Any such item exist these days? Tony. |

So, this thing is like a jumbo "Bill Changer"?
I've mever seen one, but it seems easy enough to make. Just a couple of rollers and some fabric, right? |

They still make them today. I have a small plastic one and you can get them small ones from any magic shop 'The magic roller'. The best version I have seen is a plate and a roller on a stick you visible roll the piece of paper and it turns into a £10. I'm sure they do stage size versions it's just where to look.

You've got it, Starrpower. Except they used to use what looked like good quality newsprint paper. I guess fabric would last even better.

Did it actually have a "wash board" attached to it, or just the rollers?
Hmmm ... sounds to me like a job for Chance Wolf! |
