The illusion "no feet" was created by Andre Kole. It was presented by Henning many years ago, I believe on the 1,000,000 dollar vanish special. Copperfield has also presented it.

I saw Andre Kole perform that effect live nearly 30 years ago and it fooled me badly. I guess it made a great impression on me given how long I've remembered it.

I remember I was still a kid when I first saw it on DC's special. I only watched it once. I can still vagely recall that he did it on the beach. And in teh same montage there's the floating finger ring and vanishing sunglasses (sth like that). Its incredible how deeply these effects sank in. Any one have that montage to share with me? Thanks in advance.

Tony, he did not do a floating ring. He did a floating match and used the ring as a hoop.

Don Wayne's Matchbook Follies
That was one of the best Copperfield specials ever. I watched the match trick a million times without knowing the method. There was such an aura of magic around that whole segment. Now I know the exact method but to watch it still gives me chills. There's no beating those old specials when he was creating his niche. It's a shame to see him turn to "extreme stunts" and street bits. I can't imagine he really feels he needs to compete with you know who. Dr Magic :carrot:

We met once in Las Vegas very briefly. You probably don't remember me, I was the guy wearing the blue shirt. I don't want to spoil anything but I'm curious to know more about this vanish you guys are working on. Is there anything you can tell us at all? Also, I saw your card change on another post. It is absolutely amazing! If you don't mind me asking, how do guys like you come up with the things you do? Do you shock your brain with electricity or drink poison to hallucinate? I know that many artists are very dedicated to their craft and will do strange things to get in touch with another level of conciousness. Dali used to stay up for days. I think he sniffed his paint also. Is there something we can do to think more like you? Any insight is very much appreciated!! Dr Magic :carrot:

Hey Dr. Magic.
Unbelievable as it may seem I have a feeling I do know who you are. I remember. As for the Self Vanish, it is going to be a fun illusion to actually perform. You should be getting two distinct ways to do it (yet to be confirmed) at an amazing price. At the price being offered you would be crazy not to have it. As for coming up with ideas, it is hard to explain in writing as different things happen to me at different times. I mainly just look at things from a different angle. Explore the properties of an object and see what it can do and where it can be applied. Try to think diffently to the way magicians think. Why come up with another 4 ace routine or brainwave effect if there are more than enough out there? Treat playing cards as objects and not purely based on what is printed on them. Anyhow now is not the time or place really to go into all this. So much can be written and this thread is supposed to be purely for Steve Fearson's (an amazing talented man) Self Vanish!
