Hi
I have a couple of effects I used to do to astonish soldiers. These are done with live ammo so I will require some proof as to your use of these before I release them. BY PM or Email

Personally, I think you should probably market these concepts rather than make them available to any 14 year old that's willing to lie about their ability (and age). Some really hard "Proof" is needed in this kind of thing and unfortuantely, I would think you could be very much liable should someone get through your checks and get injured or worse... especially if it's a kid.

Would they be good effects for nine year old girls tea parties?
Nothing would get done at all, if man waited so long that no one could find fault with it.

She is being nice and offering them to the adult community and anyone that would do what she is offering to share at a 9 year old girls tea party, or even a kids show, should have their head examined. I for one would like to know the information. If I ever used it, it will be with the utmost caution as she is trying to do. So Paula, if you can, would you please PM me the info. Don,

Don,
There is a little humor here, it is obvious that this is not kid show material. A Penn & Teller, "Catch the Bullet" act on TV, is as real as it gets. This is information I really do not need to know. I love illusions but "Gun Play", the danger?.. the liability? Well, I haven't done any NRA club meetings so this type of act is not for everyone.

D.D. yes it is not for everyone but it can't hurt to have knowledge of it. Just because one knows how doesn't mean that one will perform it.

Hi
I am not sure but I believe some of these effects were used in the wild west type shows that used to happen. As I have said these are effects with REAL guns and LIVE ammo and so I have to be careful. I will describe the effects but not the method here:- Effect 1. A display of sharphhooting skill. The performer using a revolver throws small plates into the air and shoots each one - every time. Effect 2. The performer using a rifle fires at a bayonet blade, hits it and cuts the bullet in half, each half of the bullet then bursts a balloon. Both effects are instantly repeatable. Paula

Yeah humor, that's right, humor, that's the ticket!
Wink-wink, nudge-nudge, ya know what I mean? Unfortunately I forgot to add some smilies to make it obvious. Here are a couple to make it up. But even a kids magician may be curious about a good gun trick. I found Becker's Russian Roulette interesting. Now if you come up with a Roulette for a semi-auto, I'll go clean my Glock. I've seen trick shooters that can pick an aspirin out of the air every time. I've never seen the split bullet trick, can you have two people catch each half in their mouths? You may want to post any discussion of secrets in the Banquet Room. And where do you get guns in England?

Paula Mentioned she Did this for SOLDIERS. I think or should hope that they are Responsible. plus its their line of work they are in and can adapt to it. how do you think all the soldiers will look with a kid show magician performing for them and a bunch of balloon animals.

Hi
These effect are for a very limited type of performer and would go well in a WILD WEST type show, but with very careful control. Paula

When I was about 14 my father brought in a team of guys that did historic re-enactments as Mountainmen as well as Revolutionary War era Minutemen. They did a tomahawk, knife throwing and black powder demonstration that included the bit of slitting a 45. cal ball and breaking two clay pigeons at the same time. They also taught and allowed each of the kids present (my boy scout troop) to load actual blackpoweder rifles and fire them. I'm not a strong advocate for the NRA in that it's lost it's original focus and become defenders of terrorist in my opinion... sorry, but no "sportsman" needs armour piercing fully or semi-automatic assult weapons to shot at bambi, thumper or even Ben the bear for that matter. If they were actual "Sportsmen" they'd use more primative devices like crossbows or standard bow & arrows and give the animal a fighting chance vs. stacking the deck as they tend to do today. My point is, people need to become EDUCATED about such things vs. looking at them as being dangerous no matter what. Like Nuclear energy, a lot of good has come to the world as the result of PROPER use of a gun or most any other weapon known to man. It's how we choose to consciously apply that device or energy that makes the difference. Gun Saftey in my opinion, should be taught to everyone, including those that have no desire to handle or be associated with such devices. Such an approach would help persons from either end of the controversey to see things a bit different and possibly start making headway at the social, legal and political levels, that make some sense. I do understand that the individual offering these "effects" is trying to be safe and saine about it all. I just don't believe it's right to extend something of this kind at the public level this particular forum is known for. Kids get curious... that's why you find idiots like myself, who attempt to do things like the Bullet Catch when they're just 15 and 16 years old. It's something to think about. |
