While browsing in a book store tonight, I read an interesting quote in a book that most of you would be afraid to open. It read, "People who spell 'Magic' with a 'K' aren't." I laughed out loud, bringing unwanted attention to myself. I sheepishly replaced the book on the shelf, and slithered out the door. Just thought I would share that.

My car's licence plate is MAGIK4U.
"Magic" is spelled with a K because "Magic" spelled with a C was already taken! I have absolutely NO IDEA if this is significant or even relative. cheers, Peter Marucci showtimecol@aol.com |

Magic when spelled with the "K" at the end was an intentional modification to the word done by Alester Crowley for the sake of seperating the esoteric side of magickle practice from the theatrical element of trickery. As the tale has been explained to me, he adopted this line of thought because of his own encounters with charlatans using trickery vs. the legitimacy of the arcane arts & sciences (Mystery paths like the Kabalah, Sefer Yetzerah, Alchemy, etc.) Just thought I'd toss in some trivia that fit the theme... But, I really do think Peter is in the running for Hell-Demon of the month... just look at his picture

Crowley added the "k" to Magick to distinguish it from stage illusions and the occult works of his predecessors and contemporaries (i.e. Waite, Mathers, and Wescott).
I wonder if LeVey's comment is directed towards the way the term "Magick" is bandied about today, or if he--like Crowley--is attempting to disassociate himself from the current trends in the occult. EDIT: Nearly simultaneous post...Darmoe beats me to the punch. |

My plate reads: M9DMAGIK, with a "K" because of Alester Crowley reasons.

Hmm, could be true, but who knows considering his byzantine politics with the O.T.O and the formation of the A.:A.: and buying his degrees from Freemasonry. Aside from all that, it's great stuff to intergrate into Bizarre Magique. DA |

And that would be that I was too slow, as usual, to get to the license bureau to get the right plates! cheers, Peter Marucci showtimecol@aol.com |

Magick sounds to me like a bad spell.

Anton LeVey - Satan Speaks It's funny that Anton should make this quote as he himself was a charlatan and a fake. He was a magician and a carnival barker and started the Satanic Church to get laid. He was a showman up to the end. Now supposedly he has passed the torch onto Marlyn Manson. From the Dark Side, Doug
