Jump real high. No seriously, good levitations for stage generally are expensive and there are a lot of pieces of junk out there. I would highly recommend Dennis's levitation. While I don't own one, I helped a friend who does own one as his back stage assistant a few times. This is a great prop, well constructed, does the job, packs reasonably well, and at a very reasonable cost. For a all around "journeyman" levitation device, this is the one.
"Now here's the man with the 25 cent hands, that two bit magician..."

I have a new illusion that has been discussed by many on these forums. I've come up with a version that lends itself to being done without an assistant. It is called the Magellan Solo, and it is described in this thread
http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......art=0#26 The top names in the business agree that this is the most revolutionary levitation concept to be invented in several decades. None of the people commenting on this thread so far are aware of the concept, but there are many top notch floating lady experts that are beginning to think differently about the concept of levitation in magic. Please see the Magellan Witch levitation on youtube, and visualize doing this without the magician standing behind the assistant. Imagine that the magician walks to center stage with the cloth held between the hands, and he begins to levitate. Then, one of the hands drops it's corner of the cloth, and it falls to the ground, revealing the performer floating, rotating slightly, in mid-air. The cloth is gathered again, and the performer descends to the floor. This is a beautiful, effective concept, and it is priced way below the standard suspensions. This is solid, legitimate suspension principles, made into a levitation. Please contact me for more details. Jimmy Fingers |

I think one of the BEST levitations/suspensions I've ever seen was recently on Criss Angel's show. Right in the middle of a Las Vegas street...a woman is suspended and is completely SURROUNDED! The camera goes around, up and over...no CLUE!
I don't imagine you'll find THAT one for sale, any time soon. Steve Fearson's Fantastic Floatation is one that might work for Midnight...it would have to modified a bit (ala Ron Jaxon's), so that the magician faces FRONT. Best! Doug |

Doug, what Angel did there was related to DC's Flying.

Oh, OK...thanks Pete! Different venue. I thought it might be related to the Broom Suspension, until BOTH feet went up! Still, I find those absolutely stunning...it really shows his skill in showmanship, which I could certainly learn more of...LOL.
I built a scale model/mini "Flying", just for giggles. John Gaughan is a genius! I still have the original Steve Fearson's Fantastic Floatation in it's manila package...One of these days, I'm going to modify it. I like Angel's version the best. Actually Ron Jaxon has the best idea, but Angel "floating" above the escalator stairs cracked me up! That's really good to do in the mall! Glad to hear you're doing better, Pete! Prayers going out your way! :) Doug |
