Interesting question and I guess you could weld up a frame of aircraft aluminum (go with the square shapes not the round tubes) and bolt an aluminum skin, or maybe even fiberglas skin sort of like the way the guys that skin the sides of tour bus skin over the old windows when they are converting a bus. I doubt you would gain any weight advantage though. What are your ideas on this???

Sounds like the real advantage would be in the thinner walls, potentially decreasing the necessary thickness of the entire base by 1/2" - 1", or creating more interior space in a given area. Sometimes, every little bit helps.

Make the walls out of plywood as usual, make the bottom out of aluminium sheet. Paint the bottom (outside) flat black not no light is reflected. The inside glue a layer of black felt or similar material. The reasons should be obvious.

You could use metal for the bottom but you would have to figger out a way to keep it from making that "poing" sound when its moved or weight applied. Using say, quarter inch stock for the aluminum would eliminate talking but it would be very heavy and expensive. There are some very thin, very strong (I just got some 1/16" plywood with four laminations for another trick) plywoods available from aircraft builders supply houses. This might be the way to go over a metal frame?? I dunno. I doubt I will ever build another illusion. I am more into my mainstay which is magic tables, casino chips and card magic. I think the big aircraft ply supplier is a company called aircraft spruce and they are out of the atlanta area. I havent ordered from them in a few years and the brain cells are well....!!

Tabman, save yourself some work and money. Use the thin stuff with the felt layer glued inside

Thanks for your guys much helping! Since I got idea and structure on how to build it but need much time to spend. once I complete it in future, will let ur guys know. I m planning using almost full range of aluminium, weight is much lighter than others... for transportation, but price... I m not courting it yet... let you know soon.
