Hi,

Does anyone know how good is Hollingworth's Drawing Room Deception book?

Are the effects need very good skill in handling the cards?

How many effects contained in this book?

Thanks!

Best Wishes,
Andrew

The effects generally demand very high skill with cards to look smooth and effective. I think its a great book. Probably about 20 effects and about 10 sleights discussed.

Hi,

I read some reviews of the people and some said that "The Reformation" effects needs some special size to perform that effect, is that true???

Sound very funny?

Please advice, thanks!

Reformation is performed using regular playing cards

Reformation uses normal cards, but that is one of the hardest effects to read that I have ever encountered...not to say that the description is bad, it is just incredibly hard to understand a torn and restored effect through a book...in all however, the book is very good

The book kicks@s$! It's houses lots of difficult routines. After having the book for nearly 4 years, I could only do 2 out of all of them (which is good actually!). If you don't mind the hard practise, it's so worth it.

Just re-read it last night. One of the funniest things is the idea of doing a table pass *while* dealing!! I really love this book. Every year that I go back to it I get something more. His gambling routine is wonderful I think.

Hi,

I read many reviews that it's difficult to follow throughout the effects in this book, is it true?

What are the effects that interest and perform all the time, folks?

Thank you very much!

What exactly is the effect for "the reformation"?

It's a torn and restored card effect with all the powers of Hell seemingingly summoned into the Satanic hands of the performer.
Believe me, with each performance the distinct odour of brimstone will fill the room sending waves of terror and fear into the minds of those witnessing this diabolical journey into the realm best traveled by those with the fortitude and will to withstand its demonic onslaught.
By the way, it's a pretty cool trick.
Hope this helps.

Andrew - it's a kind of 'bonus' effect for those patient and dedicated readers - those who always read the prefaces of magic books!

Gary uses a lot of filler stuff along with his descriptions...so, yes at times it can be difficult to read through the effects described.

Also, the Voodoo Card effect was performed on the Mondo Magic series being shown on A & E, so it is a really nice piece of Magic.

Yes-- Voodoo was great on A&E. It's one of those nice little effects that is so simple for us, yet plays big in the minds of the spectators. If you can control your specs well, this is an awesome trick.

Not a beginners book. I found two or three routines that I like. It's a fun book to read. Better than average I would say but not for the casual fan or reader!!! For a complete study of card magic I think it deserves a place on your 5' Shelf!!!

Definitely worth every penny. I didn't find it that difficult to read especially with Guy's own drawings but... the material is difficult. I use his false shuffle all the time. its great!
