Hi Everyone,

I'd like some opinions. Usually I try to avoid having two illusions in the same show that do the same type of thing, like two appearances or two vanishes.

Do you think that the Losander floating table and a walk-away suspension are different enough to have in two separate halves of the same show?

Thanks for sharing your points of view.

Yes, they are different enough to use them both in the same show.
You can even combine them : you do the floating table effect, then you use a spectator to help you with the table (as in Losanders routine) them you use this lady for your walk away suspension..

If you wanted to, you could perform an Asrah, a Suspension, a Dancing Hank and a Zombie (Light Bulb, Okito Floating Ball) in the same show. And I doubt that too many people would analyze their similarities.

If you look at the Lance Burton show he does: 2 levitations (of of his assistant & his double levitation),A floating round cage (aka okito ball),
A dancing hank routine & his floating car !
So don't worry...

It depends on how you play/script it really... Where is the source of the Magic coming from in the act? You? Some unseen force? The props themselves?

Find the cause and you could play them together...

I don't agree that using two of the same type props in the same show is bad. Lucy and I use three Chalet doves to rabbits in the same two-hour show.

Two matching ones are used in our "I've Got This Friend" Routine. It is a musical number with some dance included. We each get a dove from silk put it into the Doves to Rabbit and sing about how they need to get together. We pull the tops off the props and heart balloons float up, but the doves are gone. (They reappear together elsewhere.)

Later in the show a more traditional Doves to Rabbit is performed (and often even produces a rabbit). We actually use three different props. But they are all the same thing. I doubt the audience ever catches on due to colors, music, theme, etc.

It works for us! It's been in the act since early 2002.

If you go to Vegas, you will see one deceptive base after another with just a different top.
