Can anyone tell me what close up magicians
charge to perform for 2 hours in a casino in Vegas??? |

As much as they can get!
Just joking..... It depends on how good you are and which casino you are working. It doesn't make any difference if you are working Vegas or Orlando, FL. You need to charge what you think you are worth. Figure this out ahead of time before you get the offer to do the gig. Otherwise you are left at the mercy of the gig and what they are willing to pay. Now, if you want to just get the gig and make it a learning experience fine. But I would be careful what price you commit yourself to. Otherwise you may end up working a gig you will not be happy with. What would you charge a restaurant hourly to perform a weekly gig? I would work them cheaper than I would charge a corporate gig on an hourly basis. If you live in Vegas, that would help determine your fees. Otherwise it is a real gamble, (no pun intended) to what it is worth? Email me privately, I will give you some suggestions. Steve Hart

Your question is vague. I have never seen a magician perform in a Vegas casino and I have been here 27 yrs.. I have seen stage shows in showrooms and close-up magic in restaurants and private banquets and in hospitality suites. There are different venues within the casino-hotel. They pay differently. There are also independent restaurants renting space in casino-hotels.

Just wondering out loud here, but doesn't Mike Close work close-up regularly at the same venue as Burton?
Or are you making the distinction of working IN the casino, among the slots, versus working in the bar area? |

Michael Close works in the Houdini Lounge which is a bar in the Monte Carlo Hotel. Lance Burton also performs there, but in his own theater. You have to go through the Monte Carlo Casino to get to either one, but they're not "in" the casino really. Hard to make a distinction between "in" and "not."

I used to live in Vegas, I was doing close-up regularly in the casinos for Harrah's Casino for a year. I know lots of magi that did magic in the casinos. I forgot that guy's name who used to do strolling at Caesars...then there's Gary Norsigian who did it at several casinos in Vegas...lots more, can't remember at 1am, but there's lots of opportunity wherever you live if you want to make it happen. xoox Maritess http://www.girliemagic.com
