Hi everyone. I've been out of circulation for a few months and would be interested to hear what everyone thinks is going to be big in mentalism this Xmas? I've had a major trawl around and there's some excellent stuff, but finances at present don't allow me to buy much on the off-chance it's good. Any recommendations in respect of books or effects? I'm particularly interested in psychological strategies, suggestion, etc.

The hottest is OSTERLIND, OSTERLIND, OSTERLIND
Marc Spelmann's campaign on this website has been masterful. But his promised DVDs, which will set you back $170+, are just now being shipped.

Definetely The Spellman DVDs, aswell as anything Osterlind Puts Out. And the new Jermay book. I would say Kenton's new items but I have my doubts. And I am not sure but isn't Banachek's new book due out this christmas? I could be wrong
Thanks! Scott B.

By the way, the name is Spelmann, not Spellman. He may be the next biggest thing in mentalism. But, if funds are limited, then I would wait until the feeding frenzy dies down and the cold light of reality sets in. Meanwhile, we know Osterlind to be a master teacher and performer. And his reputation is such that we actually know how to spell his name.

Leo, quite honestly I couldn't care how either of the names are "spellt".
No one said he is the best thing in mentalism, but I like his ideas and I will buy both his and osterlinds (or have them bought for me, x-mas!!). Also they are only £100 over here in the uk, if they were £170 that would be a different matter. For me the Osterlinds will be a lot cheaper too!! Yipeeee!! By the way I would like to see some more material from your goodself. Anything happening?? Curt.

Thanks to everyone who has given suggestions here. Although I do have some of the items mentioned (yes, Osterlind is brilliant!:)they've made it a lot easier than doing random buying based on reviews, very good of you all.
As I'm freelance journalist, or was until a quite interesting motorcycle bump, I am lucky enough to get all kinds of bits and pieces sent to me for review for free, so I'm not entirely in the dark. An awful lot nowadays seems long on hype and low on content - and vastly over-priced. But as I say, this will all make a life a little easier. Thanks again, and keep them coming:) CarlD |

There was a very dodgy company a few years ago called Illusions Plus. I hope this firm isn't similar. I also notice that the site is run by someone who is banned from the Magic Café so I don't know whether I would trust them.

The management of the company needn't be in question, these guys know what they are doing.

Mentalismplus? Nice website. Too intrusive. Give me your name, address and referral and I'll give you mine. Enough said.

Folks,
What actually constitutes/qualifies as "hot" in mentalism right now? How/why is an item determined to be hot? Looking forward to your replies. best regards, Stephen. |

Hello!
Aaron, so you mean that the members of this board is the pinnacle of the magic world, all honest etc. How about Gerry Mc Cambridge, Steve Pellegrino, Ford Kross, John Clarkson etc.? Are they bad and dodgy people too? I know for a fact that James Cheung and Daniel Young are good people, I met them at their show in London the other week. They're passionate about their art and I have no doubts that what ever they put out is bound to be good. They are not the kind of dodgy people you are referring too. Chris And yeah, Leo, did you check the Contact and About Us things, talk to the guys personally and you can probably sort it out.
