I've also seen Andy's routine, it's great. You'd be silly not to take him up on his offer.

I also have seen Andy's routine and the kids LOVE it and go NUTS. It is a very creative and clver routine and the kids get involved in all the fun. It goes to prove that magic is entertainment. And, although there is not much physical magic taking place, Andy's entertainment value is way way up there.

Thanks guys for the comments. I just pulled out the video again last night & watched it. The recording is just a year old & I was surprised at how much it had evolved & changed over the last year. Some of the jokes I no longer use plus I have added a few bits of music to the rouitine which have turned what was a weaker point into the strongest part simpily by adding muisc and a pause.

Anyway if anyone elce would like a copy PM me.

Dan Garrett on his Kidshow Konnivery Video has a rabbit in the hat puppet routine. It's pretty good also.

SIR T
We have supplied 'Profed' with a dummy rabbit that squeaks and moves. Wih special patter we supplied he is able to do our Peter The Educated Rabbit' (Rabbit in hat) for short 'Specialised Children's Entertainment'. Ed cannot believe how well it goes down with the children, They stoke it watch it misbehave enjoy it fooling the performer etc.,and as our protege Mattthemagicman@aol.com says the ten minute routine or more routine, goes down as well, if not better than with a live rabbit and you can keep it in the drawer box or hat. These rabbits were sold in shops by the name of Gadget and Explorer shops. Prices from four to ten pounds which is about Seven dollars upwards. Also birds sold as Seagulls which looked live Doves, which flapped their wings causing much merriment when you agreed with the children it wasn't real and then it flew away. They were about £4 also. This is a wonderful age we live in. Through internet technology and this forum, I can sit here in Chicago, Illinois, USA and receive help in improving my magic knowledge and skills in entertaining children from an elder master such as Eric Sharp in Wales, and a bright young talent from New Zeland-Andy Walker.

Eric helped me with Peter the Educated rabbit, and supplied the mechanical rabbit and much, much more in his wonderfully creative books.

I just watched Andy's CD and advise every one to obtain a copy, if possible, even if you will never perform this routine. You will be entertained as much as the children in the CD. regards, Ed Gilmore.

I'll ditto that.

Nice routine Andy.

Your bunny is very cute, I can see why the kids all love him/her.

Thanks, Ed, for mentioning my rabbit in the hat puppet routine. It was originally published in M-U-M years ago, and does indeed appear on my KidShow Konnivery video. I saw D. Risley perform a rabbit-in-hat routine and it appeared to me that he borrowed heavily from my routine and others. (Just an opinion.)
My routine is mostly original, but borrows a couple of bits from Duke Stern and Mark Young. I do NOT perform the Charles "Out of My Hat" routine, with a card trick. In fact, there is no magic, per se, (i.e. no "moves") in my routine. Therefore, you can learn my routine from the video performance without any explanation needed.

The routine is great for kids, but I perform it regularly for adults (even for magic conventions!). Just ask anyone who was at the Magi-Fest this year.

Today, I video taped a friend doing Samuel Patrick Smith's "Rabbit in the Hat" routine. He did it for an elementrary school reading show. It was a new addition to his show and wanted to see the reactions of the audience.

His show is top notch all the way, and Samuel Smith's routine is the most powerful routine in the show. He was unsure of this routine because it was a puppet, however, it wasn't very long into the act before you were sucked into believing it was real.

He previous ended his show with, a line where he has to go and he wanted to take that the most important thing with him and it was his library card.

WEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLL......He got told...The audience screamed the rabbit was the most important thing. Opps..need for a new ending line now.

The greatest reviewer for a routine are the kids. They got so sucked into the belief the rabbit was real. (Me too!) How dare the Magician forget the Rabbit!

Dave Risley, on the other hand, has an equally powerful routine with the rabbit in the hat. I saw his routine live several times at KIDabra, and own his video on it.

The biggest drawback of a video routine without an audience, is you lose that all so powerful audience reaction that make you want to go out and do it the next day.

I got a disc off andy, too. It's a smashing wee routine. I laughed every time the rabbit started dancing. Puppet power is pretty strong.
