Thanks. Take care, Richard |

It might be possible to market depending on cost and what the person is available to do with it.

Do bear in mind that most Cells in today's world start out at around $10,000.00 (for the cheap ones) to over $30,000.00 for the upper-end custom jobs.
My suggestion would be to offer the reproduction free of gimmicks, as a "Magician's Aquarium" (which is, in reality, what most of the things end up becoming after a season or two on the road.) Such a "collector's" piece, created as a conversation piece for the magic hobbyst could easily retail for between $6 and $8 k (which really cheap for a 2,000 gallon aquarium). Long ago Kirkham and I had discussed the idea of doing nearly the same thing e.g. taking the classic illusions of magic and turning them into actual furniture i.e. a thin model sawing as a buffet & sideboard in the dinning room; Disembodied Princess as a home entertainment center; the Zig Zag as a plant rack... each of course, done in fine woods and no paint... just contrasting woodtones and metal inlay so as to create the classic designs and patterns associated with said effects. Gesh! I've just given some ambitious and talented wood worker a gold mine! |

Thanks Osiris for all the good information! It's an interesting idea about creating the furniture. What color would you like your Zig Zag plant holder? LOL
Keep in touch. All the best, Richard |

My thoughts were to do it in Cherry or Mohogany with Poplar or maybe Birch as the Silohuette pattern. All of which would be hand oiled finish of course. Maybe use Black Walnut for the black up-rights that hold things together...
Best of luck! |

Did you guys read about the Houdini auction in this months (Dec. 2004) Magic Magazine? Copperfield spent $300,000 on the original piece...
Yah, I know not what you were looking for. Anyway, who would you recommend purchasing or having one built from? Any idea who built the Water Torture Cell for Criss Angel's "Submerged"? Magically, Bryan Gilles |
