Would any of you guys know any thing of this trick. It is in carneys book of secrets. And I think I remember seeing Lance Burton do a version. Where the magician tears up some paper or something like paper puts, it in a brandy snifter and it turns into a real egg. I am curious about the gaffed egg. Have any of you tried Carney's method?

I know Jarle Leirpoll from Norway sold one on his website some time ago. Friend of mine uses it frequently. It looks very good!

How durable is the Weller egg. I have made my own before but I haven't had much luck with it's durability.

The Weller egg with proper care is a workhorse. Don't be afraid to use it.

I have several Weller eggs and they have been real workhorses. Some are not holding their shape anymore but I hate to trash them. Is there a cure?

If you can find a copy of Bob Blau's World of Magic, the Tommy Martin routine for the Egg on the Fan is in there. It includes the exact method Tommy used when he made the eggs for this effect.

I tried to make a "Sterling Egg" (Max Sterling). It didn't last long at all. After a few tries I decided it just wasn't worth it. I might have been doing something wrong, I don't really know. Does anyone know if this is different from from how Tommy Martin did it.

I won't go into a discussion of the Max Sterling Egg trick here. I learned it from Tommy. And the method he gave in the book I mentioned is the one he actually used. Before I wrote the book, I actually made up a dozen egg skins. They worked perfectly.

I won't tip the method in an open forum. To quote Willard the Wizard -- "it's not for the peasants."

PM me with what you did, and I'll tell you where you went wrong.

Bob,

Provided the latex has not been compromised by being stretched, or degenerated by oils, heat will help it find its memory. Try a hair dryer, or a few short minutes in the clothes dryer. This works for latex masks, too.

Boiling water can be used to vulcanize latex. That may be another option.

Thanks Michael!

Hot water has caused and solved many of my problems. I'll give it a try. I didn't realize that I have five of them in that shape. Saving even one is forward motion. I haven't done that trick since Friday night!

Anyone know if the guy who took over the Weller Egg Manufacture from Weller is still alive and making them? He use to advertise in Linking Ring Magazine every month.

The egg trick was performed as a comedy bit by Karrell Fox and Don Alan on one of the Magic Ranch tapes. It is fun to watch even if it is for nostalgia sake.

I have made the 'real' eggs using duck eggs. They look great, but are a pain to re-do. Are the latex versions better? You can buy a lot of duck eggs for $20+

I have six locks on my door all in a row. When I go out, I only lock every other one. I figure no matter how long somebody stands there picking the locks, they are always locking three. Elayne Boosler

They pretty much work the same. The latex are a little thicker walled but opening time is the same. Where do you get your duck eggs from. I have been looking for a source for years. Duck farms do not want to sell their eggs.

I usually find them in Chinese supermarkets. However, I have seen them advertised on the internet for mail order, but they are much more expensive (http://www.duckeggs.com/).

Would that be Wes Strong? I bought an egg from him about ten years ago. He told me then that he wouldn't be doing it for much longer.

Help....I'm looking for a sponge egg....but, it needs to be more like a super soft sponge than the current sponge egg made available by goshman.
I want it to go behind a sonatta gimmick
the goshman egg doesn't compress enough for that
thanks
