Yes I have taught magic classes and I am also a co-leader of the Philadelphia Society of Young Magicians. It is a club for kids ages 7-17 who have an interest in learning the art of magic.
I have been doing this for well over the past 10 years and we meet 2 times a month except in the months of July and August. It is my way of giving back to magic what magic has given to me. It is also a way to teach the kids the right and proper ways to do magic. That magic is NOT about fooling anyone it is about entertaining them. I have seen 7 year olds do marvelous magic and have seen them grow up and come back and say that magic alone had gotten them so much in life and through a lot of situations. That to me was well worth any effort or struggles I may go through teaching these 25+ kids. Is it worth it? You bet it is. It is worth it to me to know I am making a small difference in the lives of some kids. It makes a difference to me cause I am teaching these kids values and lessons that can keep them from doing far worst things with their lives. It is time spent on a great hobby instead of hanging out after school causing problems. If anyone is intersted in starting an SYM assembly in your area, please PM me as I would be happy to tell you how to go about it. Kyle
