I agree with bill palmer, card are special and coins are special too, it's so different ! for both, it's hard to begin but for both you can pass a lot of nice tricks if you practice a lot !!

What about coin+cards.
I agree with you tracematt: I think that coin and card together works really well. There is a hold chapter of this in Encyclopedia of coin sleight volume 3

I agree to say that coins and cards are different.
But I think that coins are most difficult to learn because you have only a few solutions : the coin is on your hand or in the other, in the sleeve, or pocket. With card, you have many choices. Because you have 52 cards (or 54), and when you are losing a card in the middle of the deck, the audience are also lost. You don't need to be good in misdirection with card, but with coin, I think this is important. With coins you are always doing other thinks with the other hand, but with cards, a special move can close the routine. You don't need to palm cards also. Some good videos like the French David Stone (the magic of coins number 1) is very good to learn coins.
